Our client, a well-established and highly reputable business membership organisation based in Central London, is currently looking to appoint a Learning Manager.
If you are an experienced learning professional working within a membership organisation, trade association, professional body, regulatory body or not-for-profit, and have a strong track record of working with subject matter experts to design and develop a full suite of training and courses for members, we would love to hear from you.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the membership environment and how high-quality learning and development can drive engagement, professional standards, member value and commercial growth.
The Role of Learning Manager
This is an exciting and strategically important role responsible for the continued development, expansion and delivery of the organisation’s training portfolio.
Working closely with members, committees, internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, you will:
- Identify training needs across the membership base
- Design and develop a comprehensive suite of training programmes (including face-to-face, virtual and eLearning)
- Translate technical expertise into structured, engaging and accessible learning content
- Oversee delivery, quality assurance and continuous improvement of the training offer
- Contribute to the commercial growth and strategic development of the training function
This role is ideally suited to someone who combines instructional design expertise with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical experts and senior stakeholders, ensuring training content is accurate, relevant and commercially viable.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Demonstrable experience working in a senior training role within a membership organisation, trade association, professional body, regulatory body or similar not-for-profit environment
- Proven experience working with subject matter experts to design and develop a full suite of training and courses from concept through to delivery
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles, including eLearning development
- Experience creating blended learning programmes (in-person, virtual and digital)
- Confident using digital delivery platforms and learning management systems (LMS)
- Experience of training software and learning technologies
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting income-generating training programmes
- Ability to articulate and simplify complex technical or professional content for varied audiences
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines
- Ability to self-motivate, prioritise workload and drive projects forward
- Experience managing budgets and contributing to financial planning for a training function
- Experience managing and developing staff
- Strategic mindset with the ability to plan long-term growth of a training portfolio
Desirable
- Experience working with volunteer committees and acting as secretariat to committees
- Experience of CRM systems
- Experience of marketing and promoting training products to members
