Our client is seeking a Learning Developer to join their team. This Learning Developer role is an integral part of a collaborative and experienced team of workplace learning professionals. The team partners with business representatives and learning colleagues to identify and implement the most efficient and effective learning solutions. The primary focus is on supporting new product and process initiatives, with an emphasis on sales, technical, and operational skills training.
This is a 12 month contract which requires the talent to work onsite at our client's office in Toronto, 4 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key business contacts and learning colleagues to stay informed about product, process, and system initiatives, specifically focusing on role-specific employee learning needs and their impact on new-to-role programs.
- Conduct needs assessments for assigned projects to understand business initiatives and strategies, confirm required performance outcomes for training, and establish clear learning objectives.
- Perform assessments to determine learning implications and validate the impact of new product, process, and system initiatives on existing learning programs.
- Research potential solutions and recommend approaches to the business, ensuring that design solutions effectively leverage existing internal and external resources.
- Update existing training materials, including facilitator guides, learner guides, activities, and test questions.
- Utilize existing design templates and adhere to established instructional design standards.
- Support and execute learner evaluation appropriate for the learning channel and format.
- Contribute to research into emerging learning design and development trends to ensure the optimization of a full range of learning channels, enhancing employee capability in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
- Adhere to the project governance model and maintenance schedule.
- Forecast and track resourcing time on each project using designated tools and processes, submitting reports weekly.
- Provide support for other large-scale product and process initiatives as required, under the guidance of the team lead in the area of specialty.
- Offer support for curriculum updates for new-to-role training programs and for the design of elements within larger, multi-faceted learning initiatives.
Requirements
- University degree or demonstrated expertise in adult education and learning principles, coupled with relevant workplace learning experience.
- The successful candidate must have completed the Derivatives Fundamentals course from the Canadian Securities Institute.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in learning design and development.
- Specialist knowledge in learning design, development, and maintenance of existing programs.
- Ability to create small to mid-size learning projects and execute hands-on development of learning materials.
- Proficiency in applying sound adult learning principles and proven learning methodologies to build focused learning solutions.
- Proven subject matter knowledge in the area of business specialty.
- Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products.
- Excellent written communication skills, with keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Strong verbal communication and influence skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate project requirements, work effectively with project teams to expedite deliverables, and develop ongoing team and partner relationships.
