About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking an experienced HR Analyst V / Learning & Development Project Manager to support the delivery of strategic learning initiatives. This role will focus on managing medium-to-high complexity Learning & Development (L&D) projects while partnering with business leaders, learning teams, vendors, and key stakeholders to deliver effective learning solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a project management professional with a strong background in Learning & Development, organizational training, and change initiatives within banking, financial services, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end planning and execution of Learning & Development projects.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, issues, and deliverables.
- Drive implementation of learning solutions across multiple formats, including:
- Instructor-Led Training (ILT)
- Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT)
- eLearning
- Webinars
- Learner pathways
- Workshops
- Develop and execute stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Partner with Learning & Development Centres of Excellence, business leaders, and project teams to deliver learning programs.
- Manage project governance, reporting, and status updates for leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate vendor selection, onboarding, and relationship management when external learning providers are involved.
- Support change management, launch communications, and learning adoption strategies.
- Facilitate project retrospectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to business objectives.
Required Qualifications
Must-Have Experience
ā
5-10 years of Project Management experience
ā
Learning & Development project management experience as a primary responsibility
ā
Experience delivering medium-to-high complexity projects
ā
Experience within Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or other regulated industries
ā
Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and hybrid project delivery methodologies
ā
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including:
- MS Project
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- Teams
ā
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
ā
Experience managing project risks, budgets, issues, timelines, and governance
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP Certification
- Agile and/or Scrum Certification
- Program Management experience
- Previous Banking experience
- Learning strategy and performance consulting experience
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide training initiatives
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- LMS and LXP platform experience
- Experience with eLearning technologies and standards:
- SCORM
- xAPI
- HTML5
- Experience with authoring tools:
- Articulate Storyline
- Rise
- Virtual facilitation experience using:
- Microsoft Teams
- Webex
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Learning & Development Project Manager who has successfully led complex training and learning initiatives within a banking, insurance, or financial services environment. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and translating business needs into impactful learning solutions.
Candidates with experience solely managing operational HR activities without significant project management and L&D experience will not be considered.
