One of our clients, a major energy organization, has tasked us with identifying a Learning & Onboarding Advisor to support enterprise‑wide onboarding and learning initiatives. This role is based in Calgary, Alberta, operating on a contract basis through June 2028, and plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless, engaging, and well‑governed onboarding and learning experience for new hires, internal transfers, and contractors.
About the Role
The Learning & Onboarding Advisor is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end onboarding and offboarding lifecycle, acting as the subject matter expert for onboarding best practices, principles, and continuous improvement. The role leads the design, coordination, and delivery of onboarding programs, orientation sessions, and welcome experiences, working closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure alignment with business, HSSE, and cultural expectations.
This position also maintains ownership of assigned learning portfolios under the direction of the Learning & Development Manager, supporting the rollout, governance, and evaluation of learning programs across the organization. The role partners closely with asset training teams and multi‑disciplinary stakeholders to deliver learning solutions that align with business priorities, workforce readiness, and future capability needs.
The role is standard business hours, Calgary‑based, with periodic travel between Alberta and British Columbia to support onboarding and learning activities as required during the contract term.
Key Responsibilities
The Learning & Onboarding Advisor will:
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors across multiple business groups and geographic locations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Phase‑based learning, onboarding, and development activities.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver onboarding programs, orientation sessions, and New Joiner Welcome events (virtual and in‑person).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop onboarding materials, welcome packs, and orientation content aligned with company values and operational standards.
- Monitor onboarding effectiveness, learner feedback, and completion metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and manage assigned learning portfolios, including rollout of programs, tracking completions, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Coordinate training logistics including course scheduling, learner registrations, classroom and virtual delivery support, and instructor coordination.
- Manage training request intakes, learning payments, centralized budget tracking, and credit‑card expense reconciliation.
- Collect, analyze, and report on post‑learning evaluations, escalating issues and recommending improvements where required.
- Develop and maintain job competency profiles for assigned roles and learning portfolios.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to new employees to support successful integration into the organization and culture.
- Maintain strong governance, confidentiality, and data integrity within learning management systems.

Qualifications & Experience
To be successful, you will bring:
- 5–8 years of experience in learning, onboarding, talent development, or HR‑related roles.
- Formal education in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Strong facilitation skills with proven experience delivering engaging orientation and onboarding sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, guide, and collaborate across functions and organizational levels.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with sound business acumen.
