Job Title: L&D Designer/Developer IV
Duration: 9+ Months Contract (Extension Possible)
Location: 100% Remote – Anywhere in Canada (Must work Eastern Standard Hours)
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Learning & Development Designer/Developer IV to design and develop highly complex, level four simulations and blended learning solutions supporting North American customer operations within a large enterprise financial services environment.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of instructional design and development experience, strong expertise in eLearning authoring tools, advanced creative and graphic design capabilities, and deep knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1). This role requires close collaboration with instructional designers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative, business-aligned learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Design & Development
- Design and develop complex (Level 4) simulations, assessments, and interactive eLearning solutions
- Create blended learning programs including instructor-led, web-based, and performance support tools
- Develop instructional frameworks, storyboards, scripts, content mapping, and prototypes
- Recommend effective learning approaches aligned to business objectives
eLearning & Media Development
- Develop interactive modules using Articulate Storyline (3/360) and Rise 360
- Create instructional videos using tools such as Camtasia and Adobe Suite
- Design graphics, animations, and multimedia elements aligned with brand standards
- Produce visually engaging assets including eBooks, job aids, presentations, and simulations
Accessibility & Compliance
- Design fully accessible learning solutions following WCAG 2.1 guidelines
- Test assets using screen readers (e.g., JAWS) and keyboard navigation
- Ensure diversity, inclusion, and accessibility principles are embedded in all deliverables
Collaboration & Consulting
- Partner with course owners, instructional designers, and SMEs to capture requirements
- Participate in project scoping, planning, and learner experience design
- Consult on instructional approaches and performance enablement strategies
- Contribute to team success through coaching and knowledge sharing
Project & Quality Management
- Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines within core business hours
- Maintain and enhance existing learning assets
- Participate in review sessions and stakeholder meetings (20–35% meeting time depending on project phase)
- Deliver high-quality, business-aligned learning solutions
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of instructional design and development experience
- Proven experience building complex (Level 4) simulations, videos, and assessments
- Expert-level proficiency in Articulate Storyline (3 or 360) and Rise 360
- Strong creative and graphic design skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Hands-on experience designing accessible learning solutions in compliance with WCAG 2.1
- Experience testing accessibility using screen readers and keyboard navigation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-graduate education in Adult Learning & Development or Instructional Design
- Certifications in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Human Performance Technology, or Creative/Graphic Arts
- Experience in banking or financial services environments
- Experience with video tools such as Vyond (GoAnimate), Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Camtasia
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Experience with virtual learning platforms such as Adobe Connect, WebEx, MS Teams
- Strong learning consultation, needs analysis, and program evaluation experience
- Portfolio of instructional design and development work
