The HR Business Partner is a hands-on role providing HR support to ACCIONA’s project-based teams, supporting HR operations, Talent, and People programs in collaboration with project and corporate HR colleagues. The role reports directly to the Talent Operations Director.
This position is based in-office at our Mississauga Headquarters but will be deeply involved in supporting active project sites. Site presence will be required as needed with occasional travel to project locations outside of the GTA (limited but expected).
This role requires a strong HR generalist background, ideally with experience in construction or infrastructure.
This is a new position within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Project HR Support
- Provide hands-on HR support to the ACCIONA HR team supporting project delivery.
- Assist with day-to-day HR operations as required.
- Support coordination and delivery of ACCIONA HR programs within project environments.
Recruitment & Staffing
- Support end-to-end recruitment for project-based roles in coordination with project HR teams.
- Assist with onboarding and integration of ACCIONA employees.
- Participate in recruitment events, career fairs, etc.
Talent, Performance & Development
- Support performance management cycles, including goal setting, development planning, and feedback discussions.
- Partner with employees and managers to identify training needs and development actions.
- Coordinate and support the delivery of learning and development initiatives.
- Support early-career and emerging talent initiatives.
- Promote and educate employees and managers on available internal training resources and development opportunities to encourage a culture of continuous learning.
Employee Engagement & Retention
- Support engagement and retention initiatives.
- Assist with employee communications, recognition, and culture-building activities.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide hands-on support with employee relations matters and policy interpretation, in coordination with project HR teams.
- Support compliance with employment standards and internal ACCIONA policies.
- Ensure consistent application of HR practices.
HR Systems, Administration & Reporting
- Support Workday administration and reporting, including processing HR transactions, maintaining data accuracy, and producing reports to support project and ACCIONA HR needs.
- Develop strong proficiency in Workday and support effective use of the system by providing guidance, support, and informal training to employees as required. HR Systems, Administration, Immigration & Reporting.
- Perform and/or coordinate day-to-day HR administration activities, including employment documentation, onboarding and offboarding processes, employment letters, and employee file maintenance, ensuring compliance with internal policies and local legislation.
- Support immigration and work authorization processes in coordination with external counsel including work permit applications, maintaining compliance documentation, and ensuring timely renewals and status updates.
- Monitor visa and work permit timelines proactively to mitigate business continuity risks related to immigration statuses.
ACCIONA Knowledge & Ambassadorship
- Develop strong knowledge of ACCIONA’s HR frameworks, policies, and culture.
- Act as an ACCIONA ambassador, supporting project HR teams with guidance and expertise.
Other
- Other duties as required. This is a dynamic role, and responsibilities may evolve over time to meet project and organizational needs.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Ideally 5–7 years of progressive HR generalist experience, with openness to strong candidates above or below this range.
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments strongly preferred.
- Proven hands-on experience across HR functions including, but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, talent programs, and employee engagement.
- Experience with Workday or another HRIS preferred.
- Comfortable working independently in fast-paced, delivery-driven environments.
- Strong judgment, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $95,000.00 – $125,000.00 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
