How your role will add to the story:
The HR Specialist plays a key generalist role in supporting the business objectives of Mercedes-Benz Canada and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. This role partners closely with employees and leaders to deliver HR programs, policies, and initiatives that build a high-performing, engaged, and future-ready workforce.
A day in the life:
HRIS Management – 30%
- Manage all HR transactions in PeopleSoft (hires, promotions, transfers, terminations) while maintaining data accuracy and compliance.
- Lead HR systems maintenance, upgrades, and process automation to improve efficiency.
- Support HR Transformation and system-related projects, resolving complex data or system issues.
- Develop user guides, process documentation, and align system standards with global HR counterparts.
HR Compliance – 20%
- Oversee HR policies, employee handbooks, and compliance frameworks for MB Canada and MBFS.
- Ensure updates reflect current legislation and MBAG standards, managing approvals and stakeholder alignment.
- Lead internal audits, data governance, and control processes (four-eyes principle, data deletion, etc.).
- Develop and execute communication plans for HR policy changes and compliance topics.
Administrative / Other – 20%
- Provide day-to-day HR operational support and respond to employee inquiries on systems, pay, and benefits.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and invoice tracking.
- Support HR events, communications, and data reporting.
- Maintain secure and accurate employee records while ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
Onboarding – 10%
- Coordinate the full onboarding experience including first-day logistics, orientations, and manager communication.
- Administer new hire and manager surveys and implement improvements based on feedback.
- Recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Manage vendor coordination for temporary housing and relocation support.
Immigration – 10%
- Act as the main contact for all employee immigration matters and liaise with external legal counsel.
- Manage and track work permits, visas, and PR applications, ensuring accuracy and timely renewals.
- Provide guidance to hiring managers and employees on immigration policies and compliance.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to support international recruitment needs.
Programs & Strategies – 10%
- Manage and enhance employee programs such as Rewards & Recognition and training initiatives.
- Support HRBPs with learning, development, and organizational change projects.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition on the Make Your Mark Internship Program and other talent initiatives.

Mercedes-Benz Star skills, requirements & traits:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, with 3–5 years of HR Coordinator or Generalist experience; CHRP designation obtained or in progress preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR systems such as PeopleSoft, Taleo (ATS), and LinkedIn Recruiter
- Solid understanding of HR legislation, compliance practices, and policy administration.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage employees and leaders at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple HR initiatives, priorities, and deadlines with strong organization and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
