Our Role
The Learning and Development Partner will devise, design, and deliver impactful learning initiatives that strengthen our learning offer, support career development, and enable our people and business strategies.
We’re looking for an individual with a genuine passion for retail and for our brand, someone imaginative and resourceful, who can translate ideas into action and deliver tangible results. With a focus on driving a culture of continuous learning and improvement, the L&D Partner will build strong, collaborative relationships across our Retail, Head Office, and Contact Centre teams. They will empower employees to take ownership of their development through both in person learning and our LMS, the Development Hub.
Reporting to the L&D Manager and line managing the L&D Advisor, this role will contribute to the creation of a comprehensive Learning Offer that develops both behavioural and technical skills. This will include initiatives focused on career development, team building, talent identification, career pathing, and leadership development ensuring our people have the skills and confidence to grow and succeed at The White Company.
What you'll be doing
Learning Offer
- Support the L&D Manager in conducting a full Learning Review, using data and insights from employee surveys, customer analytics, and leadership feedback to inform the new TWC learning strategy
- Work closely with the Comms and Engagement Partners to ensure alignment where appropriate of L&D and C&E approach to heighten our Culture.
- Partner with stakeholders across Head Office, and Contact Centre to identify current learning needs, developing skills for the future of retail, and embedding a culture of being bolder, faster and better.
- Partner with our retail Area Managers to drive our FPQ (Funded Professional Qualification) offering, supporting retail stores and facilitating the development of supervisors into management roles.
Learning Management System
- Drive employees to our LMS system ensuring our they have clarity of what’s available to drive their development
- Create digital learning initiatives, recommended best practices and support in defining success metrics for our LMS System
- Support the L&D Advisor in gathering an reporting on LMS training data, to support impact metrics
- Partner with key stakeholders in utilising the LMS to drive education across the business, including our Product, Buying and CSR teams
Design & Delivery
- Understand the TWC brand, values and culture, ensuring they run through every piece of training material produced– ensuring relevance and appropriateness to deliver the defined learning objectives of any given initiative
- Contribute to the design of programmes that support our focus on career development, working with the L&D Manager to deliver these in person, and online
- Ensure all content we design and deliver is inclusive, accessible and representative for all employees
- Support the L&D Advisor when necessary with the delivery of all induction activity across the business, ensuring every employee gets the best first chapter with TWC
- Champion career development plans across the business to ensure all colleagues are focussed on development and they continue to grow
- Play a key role in talent discussions across the business and work with People Partnership team to implement recommendations on an individual and company basis
Team and Stakeholder Management
- Responsible for the line management of the L&D Advisor
- Form key partnerships with business partners and other stakeholders across the business
- Forge strong relationships with TWC Management teams to support them in creating SMART development plans with their teams
- Work as part of the wider People Team to deliver people projects and to improve our employee experience
- Work with external providers, including the Fashion Retail Academy (FRA) and the British Retail Consortium (BRC)
Skills & Experience
- A theoretical knowledge and understanding of Learning & Development, the training cycle and adult learning methods.
- A passion for developing people to achieve their potential.
- Line Management experience desirable
- Experience of delivering learning initiatives and training, ideally in a luxury retail environment.
- Experience in Learning Management Systems
- Experience building online training, digital learning and video content
- Experience in using Articulate Rise, Canva and other authoring tools
- Strong self-awareness and interpersonal skills – able to manage relationships with peers and influence key stakeholders.
- Experience in Apprenticeship Levy and Apprenticeship strategy desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentational skills.
- Experience in Project Management not essential but desirable.
- A Brand Ambassador who inspires and motivates.
- Planning and organisational skills
- PC literate (Microsoft Office 365)
- Experience using internal communication tools, to engage learning.
