About The Role
As our Head of L&D, you will own the global learning and development agenda across Altery. This is a senior role with both strategic and operational impact, combining regulatory training requirements (FCA, SM&CR, AML, data protection, etc.) with the design of development programmes that build technical expertise, soft skills, and leadership capability.
You’ll partner closely with Compliance, the People team, and Senior Leadership to make sure our employees are not only compliant, but also empowered to grow their careers, develop new skills, and lead the business forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver Altery’s L&D Strategy across four pillars: compliance training, hard skills development, soft skills & leadership training, and career pathways.
- Lead the design and execution of the annual training calendar, ensuring all regulatory obligations are met in every jurisdiction we operate in.
- Develop programmes that support job grading and career progression, linking training directly to opportunities for growth.
- Introduce and scale leadership development initiatives for senior managers and emerging leaders.
- Partner with Compliance to ensure training is always aligned with FCA, EBA, DORA, and SM&CR requirements.
- Build a continuous learning culture, encouraging employees to take ownership of their own development.
- Oversee assessments, certifications, and central record keeping for regulatory and audit purposes.
What You Bring
- Significant experience in Learning & Development leadership, ideally within FinTech or financial services.
- Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks (FCA, SM&CR, AML, data protection) and their impact on training.
- Proven track record in designing and delivering enterprise-wide L&D strategies.
- Experience building both compliance frameworks and development programmes for technical and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with job grading frameworks, career pathways, and competency models.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to work across Compliance, Risk, People, and senior leadership.
- A balance of strategic vision and hands-on delivery.
