Description
Leading a team of L&D Operations Trainers, the L&D Consultant, will provide expertise, leadership, support and strategic guidance in the day-to-day operations and planning for Learning & Development of frontline employees, across the region. The role includes developing and implementing strategies to improve the employee experience in safety, quality and performance, in alignment with the Organizational & Learning and Development strategic plan and core values of Purolator
Responsibilities
- Ability to collaborate and influence with multiple levels of Operations leadership, from Directors to District Managers across Western Canada. Excellent People Manager leading teams from developing, coaching a team of Learning & Development Specialists and Operations Trainers to meet L&D Operational performance to their career growth.
- Strong in deployment strategies of training and development initiatives, from new programs that require train the trainer, proactive compliance and ability to resourcefully plan for high volume events such as Peak new hire onboarding.
- Act as a proactive L&D business partner with internal customers, Health & Safety, Human Resources and the Operations team by consistently seeking to make a positive impact on key performance indicators that measure the effectiveness of training and development initiatives and positively influence business results.
- Adopting the principles of continuous improvement, provide leadership, direction and integration of the Learning & Development needs for current and future programs, advise on availability and appropriateness of training issues, courses, proactive in ensuring regulatory trainings are met and to compliance, and to provide guidance on Learning & Development opportunities for continued growth.
- Oversees the integration and administration of Learning programs and services throughout the Region, to ensure consistent delivery; regularly monitors and evaluates program results.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work directly with National Field Learning & Development Manager, Learning & Development Governance Program team, facility and department managers to implement Learning & Development standards and operating procedures.
- Analyze and understand data to suggest improvements and enhancement of training processes. Manages the administration and evaluates, develops, and provides enhancements guidance to the Learning Management System.
- Recommends policies, procedures, and programs that meet field learning and development objectives
Education
- Adult Learning & Development diploma or, certificate or degree of three academic years, that demonstrates 5+ years’ ability applying adult learning practices in needs assessments, instructional design, delivery, and evaluative methods
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Proven strengths in having difficult conversations, problem solving, issue-resolution, attention to detail, and ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience
- Experience that shows steady progression in Learning & Development and Leading Teams for the last 5+ years in a manufacturing/production/distribution leadership role
- Proven ability to effectively influence all levels at Purolator from Senior Executives to frontline workers Willing to address problems; assume ownership of issues and provide solutions
- Experience in developing, coaching and delivering feedback related to performance Proficiency in creating learning content and driving learning through Learning Management System
- Self-directed and self-motivated, demonstrating a high level of professionalism, ethics, confidence and a commitment to a team approach
- Must set personal ethical standards at a high level and interact with others at all levels within the organization in a manner that instills similar values
- Evidence of ability to prioritize, manage and complete projects with tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- The ability to manage own schedule and work in Terminals, Depots and Retail centres, with required travel of 25% - 50% to locations within region and occasionally, other locations within Canada
- Valid driver’s licence
