McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a Learning and Development Specialist based in
Toronto supporting our national offices
. As a member of the L&D National Team, you will play a key role in facilitating and implementing training for onboarding new Firm Members, integrating technology into legal practice, and fostering professional development. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing professional to grow their expertise in learning and development.
This role offers the flexibility to work remotely for up to three days per week.
What You’ll Do
You will be part of a team of National Learning Specialists whose Firm Members depend on for guidance and support to keep them efficient and effective. Working alongside experienced team members, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills while engaging in a wide variety of activities, including:
- Facilitate engaging on-site and virtual training for new and existing Firm Members, ensuring their growth and development.
- Foster a supportive learning environment aligned with the Firm’s values and strategies by providing tools and activities that promote professional development.
- Conduct technology-focused training sessions and coaching for staff and lawyers enhancing their skills and knowledge.
- Observe and evaluate participant performance during training, providing constructive feedback to help them achieve their goals.
- Continuously improve learning programs based on participant feedback and recommendations.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of course curriculum and courseware, ensuring they meet the needs of learners.
- Coordinate national learning programs and related administrative tasks, including maintaining LMS records and generating reports.
- Participate in implementation meetings, pilot/testing groups, and train-the-trainer sessions for strategic projects, collaborating with team members.
- Work with the National Manager, Learning and Development Programs to identify training needs for projects/rollouts/implementations and create learning support materials as required.
- Contribute to new learning initiatives and approaches, working with the Firm’s Enterprise Project Management Office and key stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate learning solutions.
What You Bring
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- A passion for technology and learning, with a natural inclination to embrace and champion new tools and processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build respectful and professional relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in legal support, human resources, or information technology role.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Microsoft Teams, is required.
- Knowledge of legal technology applications, including, but not limited to, document management systems and docketing software, would be beneficial.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning authoring tools, such as Articulate360, Rise, or Camtasia, would be advantageous.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000 annually
