Mission
The Director of Talent will be responsible for developing and executing our overall talent strategy, including best practices for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development, succession planning, and retention initiatives. The incumbent will be successful in this role by developing and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders including business leaders, HR business partners and other members of the HR leadership team as well as post secondary school and trade association leaders.
Main Responsbilities
Talent Acquisition Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition and management strategy.
- Lead the recruitment team to attract, assess, and select top talent across all functional areas of the business.
- Work in partnership with HRMs, HRBPs & business leaders to strategically identify critical organizational needs and prepare for future business requirements
- Complete comprehensive talent requirement diagnostics (workforce planning and succession plans) and build a scalable knowledge base for critical talent, with in-depth insights and information regarding strengths, and development areas.
- Work closely with the communications team and subsidiary HR teams to incorporate and elevate employer branding in the market.
- Provide innovative recommendations relating to the development and implementation of talent initiatives that align with global/market strategies and trends,and business data
- Develop and maintain relationships with external talent sources, including universities, professional organizations, and industry groups.
- Develop and manage the talent budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses related to recruitment, retention, and professional development initiatives outside of Learning and Development.
Talent Management, Succession & Performance Management
- Drive a culture of continuous learning, providing opportunities for employees at all levels to grow and develop their careers.
- Oversee the design, implementation and measurement of highly effective, results – driven strategies that enhance organizational performance.
- Establish and maintain key metrics to measure performance of talent management efforts and initiatives.
- Play a key role in our annual talent mapping exercise within subsidiaries to define critical talent, and create and implement development plans for top talent.
- Develop solutions that maximize and accelerate the growth of high performing talent by partnering with the VP HR and L&D team to bring development plans to life for leadership teams.
- Provide guidance to business leaders and HR teams on strategic workforce and succession planning.
- Work with global counterparts on effective performance management processes and best practices that drive and link to business results.
- Train HR teams and managers, as applicable, on best practices in performance management.
- Develop and measure KPIs on quality of conversation and performance outcomes.
Mobility Practices
- Work closely with Colas SA and global counterparts to ensure alignment of talent and mobility practices.
- Provide guidance to leaders on internal mobility opportunities and processes
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
- Lead the development and implementation of employee engagement and retention programs for Colas Canada while also supporting and ensuring alignment across the subsidiaries
- Promote employee engagement projects in collaboration with stakeholders and HR team
- Guide programs that improve employee development and foster engagement, inclusivity and belonging across the organization
Your Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- 10+ years work experience in OE/Change Management, Talent/L&D.
- Experience working on complex change initiatives including structural, operational, cultural and behavioral changes within a multi-national environment.
- An external network to learn from and share ideas.
Skills & Competencies
- Customer focused and ability to develop trusted client relationships at the senior level.
- Sound business acumen, balancing theory and practicality, understanding talent trends across all functions and markets.
- Initiative and well developed leadership competencies.
- Team work with a focus on inclusivity within and external to the HR team.
- Effective leader with proven listening skills, coaching approach and desire to develop others.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful talent acquisition and retention strategies.
- Language Skills: English required; French bilingualism considered an asset.
Additional Information On The Position
Salary range: $165,000 - 200,000 CAD per year.
