ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School Soto de Viñuelas, is seeking to appoint an outstanding and experienced professional to support and lead Learning Development and Safeguarding across the school from September 2026.
Flexible Appointment Structure
Depending on the profile and experience of candidates, the school may appoint:
- A full-time Head of Learning Development (SENCO) & DSL (combined leadership role)
- A full-time Head of Learning Development (SENCO) only
- A teacher (Primary or Secondary) with SENCO or DSL as an additional responsibility
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leading Learning Development provision across the whole school
- Acting as the school SENCO
- Leading the development and monitoring of IEPs
- Supporting pupils with IEPs across the curriculum
- Ensuring appropriate access arrangements for public examinations
- Delivering and leading INSET related to SEND
- Managing Learning Development staff and resources
Additional DSL Responsibilities (where Applicable)
- Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead in line with UK best practice
- Leading safeguarding training and compliance
- Liaising with external agencies
- Promoting a strong safeguarding culture across the school
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Holds QTS or equivalent
- Has significant SEND experience in a British curriculum setting
- Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills
- Is committed to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
- For DSL: has substantial safeguarding leadership experience
