The Opportunity
The Success Skills Training Senior Manager will collaborate with clients and our internal team to identify training needs and develop and deliver solutions that deliver measurable impact for professionals in the public accounting industry. Training topics include leadership and supervision, business development, time management, communication, etc. Additionally, this role will oversee learning needs for ethics, technology, and other competencies not overseen by our tax, audit, or CAS learning team.
Key responsibilities
Your time will be focused in the following areas (time percentages are estimates and will adjust based on client need):
- 40% invested in Content Creation and Delivery
- 15% invested in Curriculum Oversight
- 10% invested in Client Service activities.
- 15% invested in Learning Plan Management
- 20% invested in Additional Key Responsibilities and administrative tasks to include professional development, team meetings, time off, etc.
Content Creation and Delivery
- Develop and facilitate a variety of high-quality learning experiences to improve competency in basic, intermediate, and advanced success skills topics.
- Project manage Management Academy and/or Leadership Academy (or other leadership development programing).
- Design innovative practical application experiences for learning retention.
- Implement Spiirall by LCvista’s structures, and methodologies that enhance the overall client learning experience.
- Embrace a learner-centered approach and ensure programs are built with a methodology for measuring outcomes and impact.
- Create course materials, job aids, and visual aids to ensure alignment with quality standards.
- Design and implement pre- and post-program assessments, assignments, and evaluations.
- Evaluation scores indicate strong learner engagement; uses assessment results, survey data and learner feedback to continuously improve results.
- Collaborate with the instructional design team, providing guidance to create high quality materials and self-study programing.
- Stay current with emerging learning practices, technology, and resources.
- Develop content with consideration for nuances related to accounting standards, accessibility, DEIB, ethics and the law.
Curriculum Oversight
- Use deep understanding of professional development training to design offerings that meet evolving industry needs.
- Build and update skills and competency frameworks; map available courses to meet learning needs.
- Monitor internal and external facilitators and content to ensure performance standards and customer needs are being met.
- Stay up to date on content provided by third party content providers; is familiar with content quality if recommended to a learner.
- Source external trainers to supplement core training offerings.
- Manage relationship with external trainers:
o Define project goals, success criteria, and performance expectations.
o Establishes clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability across trainers and internal stakeholders.
o Own the annual resource management tracking strategy and continuously review utilization and spending to ensure the department operates within or exceeds budget objectives.
o Monitors milestones, resource availability, and progress to ensure successful delivery against performance standards.
- Conduct technical reviews in accordance with NASBA standard for CPE programs.
Learning Plan Management
- Collaborate with clients to build and update firm specific training plans, advising clients on training solutions, leading them toward advanced performance outcomes.
- Provides strategic oversight to ensure all learning plans are designed in alignment with internal learning strategy, standards, and best-practice guidance.
- Partner with the learning operations team to design and launch learning plans meeting internal and client deadlines.
- Understand LCvista LMS and how learning plans and recommended course lists operate within the LMS.
Client Service
- Maintain client relationships related to learning strategy and delivery.
- Stay informed on client goals and ensure departmental decisions are aligned with firm strategy.
- Collaborate with clients to conduct needs assessments to identify learning gaps.
- Coordinate vendors for firm specific training days.
Here’s what we’re looking for
- 4+ years of experience in a learning and development role.
- Experience designing and delivering training on a variety of professional development topics to include leadership, time management, critical thinking, etc.
- 2+ years experience in public accounting (or similarly CPE regulated industry) preferred.
- 2+ years experience supervising others
- Experience delivering virtual and in-person training to a broad variety of experience levels.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate and simplify complex information as well as have difficult conversations.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where improvements are continuously being made and things are changing quickly.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing professional relationships.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
- A willingness to travel overnight up to 30% of the time during peak training months (May – September and November – December).
- Strong interpersonal, self-management and organization skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word) and Adobe skills
- Understanding of AI and responsible use cases in a learning environment
- FranklinCovey, CliftonStrengths, DiSC experience preferred
