The Senior Director, Operations Learning and Talent Development leads the learning strategy for the company’s largest workforce segment, encompassing branch operations, supply chain, fleet and logistics, and environmental health and safety. This role ensures that every learning experience improves operational performance, strengthens leadership at the frontline, and supports a culture of safety and execution excellence.
Reporting to the VP of Learning & Talent Development, the Senior Director will manage a team of learning professionals responsible for partnering with Operations leaders to define learning priorities, design scalable programs and create engaging learner experiences that drive measurable business results. This leader oversees the end-to-end delivery of learning programs, from new hire onboarding to continuing education and advanced skills training.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and execute a long-term learning strategy for Operations to improve performance, safety, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Partner with Operations leaders to diagnose skill gaps and align learning to business priorities (e.g. operational excellence, branch productivity, safety culture, manager effectiveness).
- Oversee the design of blended learning programs tailored to operational groups and roles.
- Champion modern learning technology and multi-modality delivery to reach various audiences, including deskless/frontline workers.
- Use analytics and insights to continuously refine learning programs and demonstrate return on investment.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of learning professionals who create engaging and effective programs to support the learning roadmap for Operations.
What you’ll bring:
- 12-15+ years of experience in learning, leadership development, or talent management, with 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven success leading enterprise learning initiatives that support frontline or operational workforces (e.g. distribution, manufacturing, logistics, construction or field service.
- Experience partnering with operations and safety leadership to improve workforce capability, compliance and culture.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate operational priorities into scalable, measurable learning strategies.
- Track record of driving innovation in learning technologies and inclusive development programs.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Recognized ability to build high-performing, future-focused learning organizations.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone, Oracle), Enterprise Resource Planning or other Operational systems.
