To manage learning and development requirements in partnership with key stakeholders to support the strategic objectives of the business.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Act as a strategic partner to the Group Head of L&D, contributing to and influencing the development of a forward-thinking, business-aligned L&D strategy.
- Confidently lead and drive the L&D agenda in the absence of the Group Head of L&D, ensuring continuity, momentum, and alignment with business priorities.
- Take a proactive, self-motivated approach to identifying learning needs, proposing innovative solutions, and driving initiatives that build capability across the organisation.
- Evaluate and challenge regional L&D requirements, designing and delivering cost-effective, scalable learning solutions that promote consistency and share best practices.
- Build and manage regional training plans, ensuring they are aligned with strategic business goals, monitored for effectiveness, and delivered within budget constraints.
- Champion the adoption and optimisation of the new Enterprise Learning Solution, ensuring it becomes embedded in day-to-day development practices and delivers measurable value.
- Demonstrate knowledge of early talent initiatives and support the delivery of development programmes aligned with succession planning and future workforce requirements as and when required.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to embed learning and competence within operational and compliance frameworks.
- Cultivate strong, influential relationships at all levels, including senior leadership, to position L&D as a key driver of business success.
- Deliver strategic reporting and insights to senior management, using data to influence decision-making and demonstrate ROI.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CITB funding opportunities and industry schemes to support strategic decision-making and ensure the organisation maximises available funding streams.
- Support business development efforts by contributing compelling L&D case studies and best practices for bid submissions and client engagement.
- Continuously scan the internal and external environment to anticipate future capability needs and position L&D as a proactive strategic enabler.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to act as a trusted deputy to Group Head of L&D.
- Proven expertise in designing and executing comprehensive L&D strategies that drive organisational capability and align with business objectives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all organisational levels, from frontline teams to executive leadership.
- Skilled influencer capable of balancing operational realities with strategic priorities to ensure learning initiatives support both immediate delivery and long-term growth.
- In-depth understanding of commercial and project delivery dynamics within the construction sector, enabling the alignment of L&D programs with core business goals and operational requirements.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, demonstrating a proactive approach and strong ownership of responsibilities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Proven L&D business partner in construction or engineering, aligning learning to business goals.
- Strong knowledge of construction operations, regulations, and safety training.
- Experienced with LMS platforms and digital learning solutions.
- Skilled in delivering learning across multi-site and regional operations.
- Agile in developing learning strategies that support immediate needs and long-term transformation.
Qualifications / Certificates:
CIPD Level 5 in Learning and development desirable but not essential.
