Training, Development and Engagement Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Training, Development and Engagement Officer to join our People Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the development, wellbeing and engagement of staff across the school.
This is a newly created position, offering a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on how learning, development and staff engagement are delivered across both Westminster School and Westminster Under School. Working closely with HR colleagues, senior leaders and teaching teams, you will help foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and staff wellbeing.
The role is full-time and based across both school sites in Westminster. Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and the school offers flexibility where operational requirements allow. Key Responsibilities
Training and Development
- Coordinate the School's annual learning and development programme for teaching and support staff.
- Manage the administration and logistics of internal and external training activities.
- Maintain accurate training records, including statutory and compliance training.
- Support the onboarding and induction experience for new starters.
- Assist in identifying training needs through appraisals, feedback and organisational priorities.
- Produce training reports and workforce insights for senior stakeholders.
Staff Engagement and Wellbeing
- Support the delivery of staff engagement, wellbeing and inclusion initiatives.
- Coordinate staff forums, networks and engagement groups.
- Assist with staff surveys and feedback mechanisms.
- Analyse engagement data and support the implementation of improvement initiatives.
Internal Communications
- Support the delivery of engaging people-related communications.
- Contribute to internal communication channels including SharePoint, intranet pages and staff bulletins.
- Help communicate organisational updates, policy changes and people initiatives.
- Ensure communications are inclusive, accessible and aligned to the School's values.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Maintain training records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Support inspection readiness through robust reporting and record keeping.
- Monitor compliance training completion rates and follow up where required.
- Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Experience within Learning & Development, Training, HR, Organisational Development, Staff Engagement or a related field.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience coordinating programmes, events, communications or development initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems or databases.
- Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
- CIPD Level 3 or above.
Desirable
- Experience within education or an independent school environment.
- Experience supporting staff wellbeing and engagement programmes.
- Familiarity with staff survey platforms, intranets or employee engagement tools.
- Knowledge of inspection or regulatory requirements within education.
