Join Our Team: Instructional Designer
Are you passionate about learning, development, and playing a key role in shaping how colleagues build knowledge, skills and capabilities for the future?
Stepnell is seeking an Instructional Designer to lead the design and development of exceptional learning experiences across our business. This is a proactive, impactful role where you will translate complex technical content into compelling, blended learning (both face-to-face and digital solutions) to support ambitious business growth.
The Role
As our Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of training programmes, from training needs analysis through design, development, validation and release.
Working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), our training team, and internal stakeholders, you won't just create content; you will act as an internal consultant, leveraging modern learning methodologies and technologies to develop impactful and accessible, high-quality learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing High-Quality Content: Apply proven instructional design methodologies to ensure all learning materials are engaging, effective, and aligned with measurable business objectives.
- Curriculum Ownership: Own the end-to-end development of all learning projects, including both digital solutions and face-to-face curricula. Create tutor notes, workbooks and activity guides to maximise the impact of tutor-led sessions.
- Strategic Alignment: Customise learning materials to directly align with corporate strategic objectives, embedding company values using Stepnell’s specific branding and language.
- Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensure all compliance and technical training is robustly designed and accurately mapped to industry standards to mitigate corporate risk.
- Pipeline Management: Manage the end-to-end production pipeline from initial needs analysis, storyboarding, and scriptwriting, through to alpha/beta user testing and final platform deployment.
- Interactive Media & Corporate Comms: Support company-wide engagement by developing interactive media solutions for use in learning programs and wider corporate communication strategies (e.g., Corporate Safety Induction Videos).
- Innovation & Emerging Tech: Drive innovation by exploring, piloting, and integrating emerging technologies—such as VR, Augmented Reality, and AI—into learning solutions.
- Impact Evaluation: Analyse learner performance data and training analytics to measure the ROI of programs, reporting findings to stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
- E-Learning & LMS Tracking: Ensure all digital learning assets comply with SCORM and xAPI standards. Manage, upload, test, and maintain the LMS content library for seamless user access.
- Commercialisation: Transition and scale our face-to-face and e-learning training assets into commercially viable digital products that can be sold to supply chain partners and external customers to generate new revenue.
Who We Are Looking For
We need a creative, detail-oriented professional with a strong pedagogical background, a commercial mindset, and the communication skills to extract knowledge from busy internal SMEs efficiently.
Your Profile
- Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a dedicated learning professional managing the full instructional design lifecycle, with proven success in developing both face-to-face and fully digital modules.
- Strong background in end-to-end project ownership, utilising recognised frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Hands-on experience and a strong portfolio showcasing work with modern e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline).
- Proficient in LMS administration, including uploading, testing, and troubleshooting SCORM/xAPI packages.
- Experience creating and editing media assets, such as safety induction and engagement videos
- Proven ability to collaborate with and build trusted relationships across stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather requirements, influence decisions, and drive business solutions.
