Job Overview
We are seeking to appoint a Learning & Development Lead, to create and implement a learning and development strategy, aligned to the wider People Plan, which will enable the business to create a culture of continuous learning and growth, whereby individuals can evolve and develop to their full potential.
Using digital tools to design flexible, innovative, blended learning solutions, working with in/external partners as necessary, including online, face to face, social collaborative learning, coaching and action learning sets.
The post-holder will be
viewed as a trusted learning and development professional, working in partnership with the Senior Leaders, Senior Managers and other key stakeholders across the Escorting estate, to deliver commercial value to the business units, by creating and delivering learning and development plans and interventions, which underpin the operational objectives.
Main Duties
- Lead and manage the effective delivery of learning development for learners across all the Escorting Estate
- Identify and implement innovative policies, practices and new technologies that direct and improve learning development, ensuring a consistency of support for all learners
- Develop career progression pathways and management development frameworks, to support individual development and succession planning
- Drive a culture of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Develop a framework to monitor how effectively learning has been transferred to employees
- Contribute to business development activity, including tender submissions and mobilisation
- Proactively develop and manage effective internal and external relationships, to build a network of learning development practitioners, including colleagues in similar roles in wider Mitie and other organisations
- Contribute to development and delivery of the People Plan and wider Escorting business strategy, through the work of the learning team and participation in relevant working groups and projects
- Use a consultative approach with the Training Team and Senior Management Team to identify, develop and monitor the training and development strategy
- Lead, motivate and engage the Senior Management teams to help shape quarterly training delivery plans, in line with BAU business requirements
- Develop tools to enable training needs analysis within teams, to support the performance management framework
- Oversee both non/operational training delivery at local level, ensuring ongoing continuous improvement, maintained professional standards and positive learning outcomes
- Lead the training delivery team to design and implement the annual training delivery schedule, to ensure the needs of the business and learners are being met
- Design and deliver new and innovative training interventions and producing materials in accordance with agreed contractual needs
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing training interventions and materials, including initial training courses (ITCs) and refresher training for all operational/non-operational staff
- Represent the training function and acting as point of liaison for dedicated operational departments
What we are looking for
- Recognised L&D Qualification e.g. CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning &Development or City & Guilds Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Experience of managing and driving learning initiatives in a busy, complex environment
- Broad experience in all aspects of training including operational training delivery, training needs analysis, and strategic planning
- Experience of managing a Training team
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects/activities, work well in a dynamic environment and use own initiative
- Working knowledge of Training processes and procedures within a secure environment would be an advantage, but is not essential
