National Learning Centre (NLC) Training & Operations Lead (on-site)
Purpose of the Role
The National Learning Centre (NLC) Training & Operations Lead plays a key role in coordinating and delivering high-quality training programmes across the National Learning Centre. The role ensures that technical, sales, and customer experience programmes support Volkswagen Group Ireland's learning strategy and business needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced L&D/operations professional ready to take their next step into leading centre-wide operations, scheduling, and programme delivery, with strong support and development from the wider Training and Technical Services team.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Planning, Coordination & Delivery
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate training programmes across brands, aligning delivery with business priorities and dealer network needs.
- Build and maintain an efficient annual training calendar, balancing capacity, demand, and resources.
- Manage the delegate journey end-to-end, including enrolment, pre-course communication, attendance tracking, certification, and follow-up evaluation.
- Review programme outcomes, feedback, and utilisation data to identify improvements and enhance learner experience.
Centre Operations & Governance
- Support daily operational management of the National Learning Centre to ensure high-quality learning environments.
- Work closely with Facilities, IT, and external partners to resolve issues and maintain readiness.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality standards.
- Monitor centre utilisation and contribute to initiatives that improve usage and efficiency.
Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
- Work closely with the Head of Technical Service & Training to ensure programmes support business goals.
- Build effective relationships with brand teams, HR, trainers, and external providers.
- Collaborate with VWG UK and Group colleagues to leverage shared content, platforms, and best practices.
- Represent the NLC in internal forums and share insights to inform decision-making.
Commercial Management & Reporting
- Contribute to efficient scheduling, trainer utilisation, and cost management.
- Support revenue opportunities such as venue hire or funded learning initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and programme data within the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Produce clear, accurate reports to support leadership visibility on utilisation, satisfaction, and performance.
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide clear guidance and day-to-day support to the Training Administrator.
- Promote a culture of service excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Engage in your own professional development and support the growth of the wider team.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience (typically 5 years) in Learning & Development, programme coordination, or training operations.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar scheduling/learning platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate confidently at different levels.
- Comfortable interpreting data, producing reports, and making recommendations.
- Enthusiasm for improving learning operations and delivering an excellent delegate experience.
- Full clean drivers license
Desirable
- Experience in automotive, technical, or manufacturing training environments.
- Exposure to vendor management or coordinating external training partners.
- Familiarity with project management approaches (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile) or willingness to undertake training.
- Previous experience supporting or running training centre operations.
