We are looking to enhance our team by welcoming a Human Resources Leader, reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer.
This position will be a key player in our growing business and will work closely with a cross-functional team supporting our business and the execution of our people strategy and multiple people-related initiatives.
This position is also unique in the breadth it offers – we have a combination of a growing office/salaried team, a unionized employee base in our manufacturing environment, and an extensive temporary staffing presence. We anticipate all the above to continue growing in the coming months and years.
The role:
Strategy:
- Develop and implement the human capital strategy and plan that aligns with the organization's vision, mission, and goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the human capital strategy and plan, and make adjustments as needed.
- Represent and advocate for the HR function and the employee voice, and contribute to organizational decision-making and problem-solving.
- Provide project leadership and change management for people-related initiatives.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, such as senior management, line managers, employees, vendors, consultants, and regulators.
Engagement:
- Be our culture leader and build an environment that encourages high performance, team engagement, and retention of talent.
- Develop and implement the onboarding and orientation program, the employee engagement and recognition program, and the succession planning and career development program.
- Work closely with our social committee on engagement events.
- Manage our engagement surveys and related action items.
- Monitor and analyze the employee turnover and retention rates, and devise strategies to improve employee satisfaction and loyalty.
- Handle employee relations issues end to end: establish a strong HR presence and be the first point of contact for all HR related matters with unionized and non-unionized employees.
Recruitment:
- Play a key role in the recruitment of talent which will involve leading and participating in the recruitment process across the company.
Performance Management, Learning & Development:
- Develop, implement, and monitor performance management programs.
- Develop and maintain effective learning and development programs.
Health & Safety:
- Partner with the Health & Safety representative and Joint Health & Safety Committee to be champions of workplace Health & Safety.
Governance & Benefits:
- Handle employee relations and disciplinary issues.
- Lead to establish and enforce HR policies and procedures.
- Educate and advise management and staff on HR policies and procedures, and resolves any HR-related queries or complaints.
- Work with Finance to administer the compensation and benefits programs.
HR Analytics, Trends and Technology
- Conduct HR audits, analyze HR data, identify HR needs and gaps, and propose HR solutions and initiatives.
- Ensure the security and accuracy of HR data and records, and generate and present the HR reports and dashboards.
- Leverage and optimize the HR technology and innovation that enhances the HR function and the employee experience (e.g., HR information system (HRIS), applicant tracking system (ATS), learning management system (LMS), and the employee self-service portal).
- Stay updated on the latest HR trends and best practices, and adopt new HR tools and methods as appropriate.

You offer:
- Minimum 7 – 10 years in Human Resources Management, ideally with experience in manufacturing and/or a unionized environment
- University degree or similar in Human Resources, Business, or related fields
- CHRP designation
- Proven experience in developing and driving HR strategy
- Strong team leader with an ability to instill trust and collaboration with colleagues, leadership, and employees
- Up to date on current trends and best practices in human resources including changes in legislation and employment practices through professional development and networking events
