Instructional Designer – Team Lead
- Pay Rate: $33.63/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Instructional Designer – Team Lead on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Instructional Designer – Team Lead in this role will provide dedicated support and expertise to the Instructional Design (ID) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of high-quality training materials, including e-Learning courses, microlearning videos, and traditional curricula. This role requires applying advanced adult education principles, setting standardization practices, and demonstrating strong leadership and coordination skills within a hybrid work environment. This assignment will be for support to the ID team to develop and maintain training materials, eLearning and microlearning videos.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of various training assets, including competency profile charts, course outlines, training modules, curricula instructional packages, and final training materials.
- e-Learning and Multimedia Design: Design and develop engaging learning solutions, with a strong focus on e-Learning courses (asynchronous and synchronous), microlearning videos, and content for online or remote delivery.
- Standardization & Quality: Establish and maintain standardized curricula formats and templates to ensure consistency and quality across all training materials. Provide expertise on alternative delivery channels.
- Technical Writing: Write clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documents and manuals, ensuring complex topics are accessible to end-users.
- Performance Measurement: Prepare clear performance objectives and related performance measures to effectively assess learning outcomes.
- Adult Education Integration: Effectively apply and integrate adult education concepts and learning approaches into all curricula and instructional packages.
- Team Leadership & Coordination: Provide coordination, planning, and organizational support to the ID team. This includes managing project timelines and liaising effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) on site.
- Technical Proficiency: Utilize advanced proficiency in common authoring and PC applications necessary for training material development.
- Evaluation & Assessment: Apply knowledge of training evaluation and assessment methodologies to continuously improve programs.
Qualifications
- 4 years of instructional designer support work experience or equivalent (6 years experience if applicant has no bachelor’s degree but does have a certificate/diploma in adult education).
- Preference given to candidates with skills associated with the development of microlearning videos and video editing with Camtasia. Specifically with experience using 360° camera equipment.
- Experience with MS 365 Office - PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of the ADDIE model
- Excellent copy/edit skills
- Experience with Articulate360 authoring tools
- Experience with developing and designing competency profile charts, course outlines and profiles, training modules, curricula instructional packages and other training materials.
- Knowledge of evaluation and assessment methodologies.
- Experience designing and developing eLearning courses.
- Experience designing and developing courses for online or remote delivery (blended asynchronous and synchronous).
- Ability to write technical documents and understandable/user friendly manuals.
- Ability to prepare performance objectives and performance measures.
- Ability to apply and integrate adult education concepts and learning approaches to curricula.
- Ability to develop and establish standardized curricula format and templates and to provide expertise on alternative delivery channels.
- Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (Education, English, or related field); or Certificate or diploma in Instructional Design (adult education) or related program
- Excellent coordination, excellent organization, excellent communication
- Advanced English skills for professional environment, written, spoken, facilitating and group presentations
Additional Information
- This role is a hybrid position based in Surrey, BC. It requires a minimum of two (2) in office days per week and is required to work regular business hours. In office days may increase due to work with subject matter experts on site.
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
