Restorative Practice.
In Torbay we adopt a restorative practice approach in the way we work with children, young people and families. We are pleased to have been awarded Registered Restorative Organisation status, being the first local authority within the UK to have received this. We recognise the benefits of this approach and are progressing with the roll out throughout the different departments of the Council. We have a dedicated restorative practice lead and provide all our staff with the training to ensure they are well equipped and confident.

Skills
Essential:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate skills in mediation, negotiation and problem solving.
- Able to assess situations with clarity and sensitivity and act professionally in crisis situations.
- Ability to work in an open and challenging way with families.
- Ability to prepare and present reports in a variety of settings.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
- General knowledge of the range of options available to children, young people and their families.
- Knowledge of appropriate child care legislation and how it affects children and young people.
- Knowledge of current CP practice, framework for Assessment and CLA materials.
- Awareness and understanding of relevant Child Care issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of application of an evidence base in practice.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Direct work with Children, Young People, Families and professionals.
- Experience of working independently and as part of a team.
