Director, Human Resources
We're looking for a dynamic and strategic
Director of Human Resources to lead and evolve our People function as we scale from 100 to 300 employees. As the sole senior HR leader at this stage, you'll shape our culture, build scalable HR infrastructure, and support our team during a period of significant growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the leadership team, you'll have a major impact on how HR drives business success in a fast-paced, remote-first SaaS/AI startup.
People Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute people strategies that support business growth and performance.
- Lead the evolution of our HR/People function from foundational to strategic.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Optimize recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes to attract top talent.
- Implement tools and systems to support scale and candidate experience.
Culture & Engagement
- Champion company culture in a remote-first environment.
- Design and implement engagement, retention, and DEI initiatives aligned with company values.
Total Rewards & Compensation
- Lead compensation strategy, including salary bands, equity design, and merit planning.
- Guide negotiations for offers, promotions, and severance when needed.
Performance & Development
- Oversee performance management cycles using tools like Lattice.
- Design learning and development programs to support employee growth.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain and enhance HR systems (e.g., Paycor, Deel) and employee records.
Analytics & Reporting
- Define and track HR KPIs to inform strategy and report progress to the CEO and board.
Team Leadership
- Build and mentor a growing HR team (2-5 direct reports over the next 6-24 months).
Role Requirements
- 5-7+ years of progressive HR experience, including in high-growth or startup environments.
- Proven ability to scale HR practices in companies growing from ~100 to 300+ employees.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. labor laws and compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills across all levels.
- Comfortable working in a remote-first, fast-moving tech company.
- Proficient in modern HR tools (e.g., Lattice, Paycor, Deel) and data-driven HR decision-making.
- High EQ and a "hungry, humble, smart" mindset.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field; Master's degree or HR certifications (SHRM-CP, PHR) a plus.
- Experience leading or building out small HR teams.
