Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operations Learning, the Operations Learning Specialist partners with operations leaders, subject matter experts, and learning team specialists to design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning solutions that build capability across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys solving problems, and can transform complex information into engaging and practical learning experiences. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborate with learning specialists, developers, technologists, and facilitators to translate operations requirements into practical learning experiences that support employee growth, business performance, and operational excellence.

- Partner with operations leaders and subject matter experts to understand performance, capability, and learning needs.
- Gather and analyze stakeholder input, business requirements, operational context, and learner needs to support effective learning solution design.
- Design and develop learning solutions using a variety of approaches including instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, microlearning, technical training, and performance support resources.
- Co-create high-quality learning experiences with learning specialists, developers, technologists, facilitators, and external partners.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to gather requirements, validate concepts, and support solution development.
- Contribute to project planning activities including estimates, timelines, communications, and implementation planning.
- Support the development, publishing, administration, and maintenance of learning assets within Bird's learning ecosystem.
- Support pilot programs, evaluations, and continuous improvement efforts through learner and stakeholder feedback.
- Contribute to communication, engagement, and change support activities that encourage learning adoption and application on the job.

- Performance Needs Analysis – You identify gaps between current and desired capability by gathering and interpreting stakeholder input, performance data, learner insights, and job requirements. You use those insights to help define solution requirements and inform learning design decisions.
- Learning Solution Design & Creation -- You diagnose capability needs before you design, translate business needs into clear objectives and engaging learning experiences, and develop high-quality learning assets that support knowledge transfer, skill development, and workplace application.
- Learning Enablement & Evaluation – You understand what makes learning reliable at scale including learning technologies, publishing workflows, accessibility, learner administration, and data quality, and contribute to solutions that work effectively within those realities. You use evaluation data to monitor impact and support continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, talent development, or a related field.
- Experience designing and developing learning solutions using a variety of delivery methods, including instructor-led and digital learning.
- Strong instructional design, communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into practical and engaging learning experiences.
- Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and contributing to projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and adapting solutions based on stakeholder feedback and business needs.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies, platforms, and development tools.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience with learning technologies such as Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond, learning management systems, or similar tools is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in construction, industrial, engineering, or operations environments is considered an asset.
- Open to occasional travel across Canada.
