Role Overview:
Our Toronto office is currently seeking a Manager, Organizational Design & Talent Development to join our Human Resources department, reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources. The Manager, Organizational Design & Talent Development is responsible for supporting and leading key initiatives related to organizational design, workforce planning, and training and development.
This role applies subject matter expertise and analytical capability to assess organizational effectiveness, identify skill gaps, and implement targeted development solutions. The Manager will act as a strategic advisor and project lead, partnering with leadership and stakeholders to enhance organizational structure, workforce capability, and overall talent outcomes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Organizational Design & Workforce Planning
- Supporting and leading organizational design initiatives, including reframing, role clarity, and workforce alignment.
- Assessing current-state structures and contributing to the development of future-state organizational models.
- Evaluating reporting relationships, spans and layers, and role distribution to identify efficiencies.
- Developing and maintaining job descriptions, role profiles, and competency frameworks.
- Supporting implementation of organizational changes, including documentation and stakeholder alignment.
Skills Gap Analysis & Workforce Capability
- Conducting skills and workforce capability assessments to identify current and future needs.
- Analyzing gaps at the role, team, and departmental levels and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
- Supporting the development of competency models and proficiency frameworks.
- Leveraging available data (e.g., performance, feedback, business needs) to inform development priorities.
- Recommending targeted solutions to address identified capability gaps.
Training & Learning Strategy
- Supporting the design and implementation of learning strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
- Developing structured training programs across professional, technical, and leadership competencies.
- Partnering with stakeholders to tailor programs by role, level, and business need.
- Contributing to the development of learning pathways and career development frameworks.
- Identifying appropriate internal and external learning resources.
AI Enablement & Process Optimization
- Partnering with appropriate stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve efficiency across organizational design, workforce planning, and talent development processes.
- Evaluating current HR and talent-related workflows (e.g., job design, skills assessments, training development) to determine where AI tools can enhance quality, speed, and scalability.
- Partnering with IT and business stakeholders to assess, select, and implement AI-enabled tools that support organizational effectiveness and learning strategies.
- Supporting the integration of AI into training programs, including the use of adaptive learning platforms, content generation tools, and personalized learning pathways.
- Leveraging AI-driven insights (e.g., skills intelligence, predictive analytics) to inform workforce planning, capability building, and decision-making.
- Monitoring emerging AI trends and tools to continuously evolve and modernize organizational development and talent strategies.
- Supporting change management and adoption of AI-enabled solutions, including stakeholder education and capability building.
Program Design & Delivery
- Designing and delivering training programs using established adult learning principles in partnership with the Learning & Development team.
- Creating supporting materials, tools, and resources for development initiatives in partnership with the Learning & Development team.
- Coordinating program rollout and supporting adoption across the firm.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to deliver training solutions.
Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Supporting the development of metrics to assess the effectiveness of organizational and training initiatives.
- Monitoring program outcomes, participation, and feedback.
- Preparing reports and insights for leadership to support decision-making.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and refinement of programs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Support
- Partnering with stakeholders across the firm to support initiative delivery.
- Facilitating discussions, workshops, and working sessions as part of project execution.
- Supporting change management activities related to organizational and training initiatives.
- Acting as a resource for stakeholders navigating new structures, roles, or development programs.
The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of progressive human resources experience, including exposure to: organizational design and/or workforce planning.
- Learning and development or training program delivery.
- Talent management or HR project work.
- Familiarity with AI tools and applications in HR, learning, or organizational design (e.g., generative AI, people analytics, adaptive learning platforms) is an asset.
- Understanding of ethical considerations and data privacy principles related to AI use.
- Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize information and provide recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver on multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to broader team and departmental objectives
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS or learning systems is an asset.
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 Annually
