The National Urban League seek a Manager, Learning Operations. The Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Center for Leadership’s learning activities and infrastructure. This role ensures that learning programs, digital platforms, and content flow smoothly from planning to execution. The Manager owns the daily mechanics of delivery, managing the learning management system (LMS), coordinating and developing content, supporting delivery across formats, and keeping learning activity moving in a dynamic, resource‑constrained nonprofit environment.
Essential Functions
Day‑to‑Day Learning Operations
- Manage the daily operations of the Center’s learning activities, ensuring consistency, reliability, and follow‑through.
- Coordinate the flow (“traffic”) of learning activity, including content inputs, delivery timelines, and platform readiness.
- Track what is ready, in progress, delayed, or needs follow‑up to keep work moving.
- Support delivery across webinars, digital modules, summits, and other learning formats.
Content Coordination and Development
- Coordinate the preparation, formatting, and deployment of learning content developed by staff, partners, and subject‑matter experts.
- Adapt expert and partner content into usable learning assets. (e.g., short modules, guides, job aids, templates)
- Develop light learning materials appropriate to support clarity and usability.
- Review content for coherence, sequencing, and adult‑learning effectiveness.
- Maintain version control and retire outdated materials.
Learning Pathway Implementation (Support Role)
- Implement learning pathways and delivery plans as defined by leadership.
- Ensure content is sequenced correctly within the LMS and across delivery formats.
- Monitor learner progression and surface operational issues or improvement opportunities.
- Support continuous improvement through feedback and day‑to‑day learning insights.
Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
- Serve as the primary administrator for the Center’s LMS.
- Upload, organize, and maintain courses, materials, and resource libraries.
- Manage learner enrollment, access, and navigation.
- Troubleshoot basic platform and user issues and coordinate technical support as needed.
Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in
- Learning operations, training coordination, or program support.
- Learning management systems or digital learning environments (experience uploading, managing, and maintaining courses in an LMS/LXP or similar system).
- Adult learning, leadership development, or professional training contexts.
- Experience coordinating multiple activities or workstreams in a nonprofit or mission‑driven setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage details, timelines, and competing priorities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or an acceptable combination of experience and training.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong operational and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of learning and development principles.
- Comfort using LMS platforms and digital tools.
- Ability to develop clear, practical learning materials.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable wearing multiple hats.
- Ability to take direction, exercise judgment, and keep work moving.
- Familiarity with blended or asynchronous learning models.
- Ability to build curriculum and learning content.
- Hands-on experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Rise or similar)
- Project coordination experience with multiple stakeholders and timelines.
- Experience supporting consultants or temporary project teams.
- Hybrid position.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
