Job Summary
The Training Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-impact training programs that build product knowledge, selling capability, and business acumen across the sales organization. This role translates business priorities into practical, application-based training that drives performance in the field. The Training Manager partners cross-functionally and works closely with the sales organization to ensure training is relevant, actionable, and aligned to real customer interactions. The ideal candidate is a high-performing sales professional with strong facilitation skills who can operate independently, think strategically, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in New Jersey Office.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Training Strategy & Program Development
- Translate business priorities and field needs into clear, actionable training programs
- Design and develop training that emphasizes real-world application and behavior change, not just content delivery
- Ensure training materials are high-quality, complete, and aligned to field execution
- Continuously improve training based on feedback, performance trends, and observed field needs
Facilitation & Delivery
- Deliver engaging, high-quality training sessions across live and virtual environments
- Lead portions of onboarding, workshops, and national sales meeting training
- Facilitate skill development through interactive, application-based learning
- Demonstrate strong presence and credibility with the sales organization
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and other stakeholders to align on training priorities
- Collaborate to ensure consistency of messaging and execution across the organization
- Act as a trusted partner in translating strategy into field execution
Execution & Program Management
- Manage development and execution of training projects, including timelines and deliverables
- Oversee training content within the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Monitor training completion, effectiveness, and engagement through reporting and feedback
- Deliver high-quality, accurate, and field-ready training materials
Field Engagement & Continuous Improvement
- Engage with the field to understand needs, challenges, and opportunities
- Incorporate feedback and insights to continuously improve training programs
- Support a culture of learning, development, and performance improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 5 or more years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience, preferably in a sales role with demonstrated success and progression (for external candidates). Internal candidates must have 1 year of employment with Phathom Pharmaceuticals and current performance in the top 50% of sales organization
- Demonstrated consistent sales performance and strong business acumen
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional partnership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work independently
- Role is based in Florham Park, NJ; Hybrid work model: minimum of 3 days per week in office
- Travel approximately 15–25%, including national meetings, training events, and field engagement
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in coaching, mentoring, or developing others
- Experience leading team discussions, meetings, or training sessions
- Familiarity with learning platforms or training tools
- Interest in learning and applying adult learning principles

The expected annual base salary range for this role is $135,000 - $150,000.
