Position: Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning
General Summary
The Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is responsible for oversight of the learning management System (LMS), course development, pedagogy/andragogy for faculty development, instructional evaluation, quality assurance and academic assessment. The Director provides leadership to the staff in the CTL and assists in the coordination of activities related to planning, review, and institutional effectiveness efforts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)
- Acts as the primary LMS Administrator (may supervise additional LMS administrators and LMS coordinators and/or support staff).
- Oversees EdTech Support including driving updates to educational technology.
- Oversees the module transition process as it relates to the LMS.
- Verifies that all educational technology in all courses is consistent with course syllabi and booklists.
- Researches and applies emerging technologies and concepts to Beal’s learning and development strategic initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Information Technology team to ensure seamless functionality across all platforms.
- Maintains regular communication with publishers and ensures the most recent educational technology is used.
- Oversees student enrollments in the LMS.
- Oversees integration of the Learning Resource Center (LRS) in the LMS.
Course Development Duties
- After programmatic approval, works with Program Directors and Subject Matter Experts to create meaningful course builds that are consistent with accreditation requirements (institutional and programmatic) and best practices in higher education.
- Practices established instructional design principles and theory for course integrity and legitimacy.
- Establishes deadlines and uses project management methodologies to ensure timely creation of courses.
- Utilizes multimedia, instructional technology, and authoring tools to create online learning content.
Academic Assessment Duties
- Collaborates with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to establish methods to gather the appropriate data relating to course retention, student performance, and faculty performance.
- Collaborates with the academic leadership team to improve courses and programs based on course, student, and program outcomes.

Education & Knowledge
- Master’s degree or higher in Curriculum Design, Pedagogy and Andragogy, Instructional Technology/Design, Online Education, or Higher Education Leadership preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of Canvas, SCORM, Cartridges, LTI, and the ability to troubleshoot course issues.
- Highly proficient in Excel or equivalent spreadsheet tools; experience with advanced formulas and functions (Pivot tables, macros).
- Ability to develop and implement processes, work effectively on a team and maintain positive attitude.
- Experience with faculty development and training.
- Experience with accessibility topics in an academic setting, including knowledge of individual accommodations, creation and remediation of digital content, and familiarity with campus resources to develop and support accessibility.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
