The Learning and Development Specialist at BHH is a pivotal role dedicated to enhancing the educational framework and operational efficiency of our branches. This position is responsible for supporting branch education on new processes and new technology, ensuring that BHH admin staff are well-trained and equipped to implement these processes effectively. The role combines a strong understanding of operations, coordination, and leadership experience with a solid base of soft skills and exceptional customer service abilities.
This role is crucial in driving the continuous improvement of our educational programs and operational processes.
This position is a 12 month contract.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Education Support
- Provide training and guidance to branch staff on new processes and procedures to ensure smooth implementation and adherence.
Learning Design & Development
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders, to identify learning needs and objectives, and translate them into effective learning solutions.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design theories, and industry best practices to create high-quality learning content.
- Design and develop learning assessments, evaluations, and metrics to measure the effectiveness of learning programs.
- Continuously evaluate and iterate on existing learning programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of learners and achieving desired outcomes.
- Upload, organize, test, and maintain learning content, including courses, assessments, and resources.
Facilitation & Capacity Building
- Design and facilitate engaging workshops and learning sessions, including Train-the-Trainer programs, to build internal facilitation capacity and ensure consistent delivery of learning content across the organization.
Strategic Learning Initiatives
- Support digital transformation initiatives across the organization by designing and delivering learning solutions that enable employees to adopt new technologies, systems, and processes effectively.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of learning and development.
- Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education
- Post Secondary diploma or certificate in adult education or instructional design or working towards; equivalent work experience will be considered
- Working towards a CTDP or CTP designation is an asset
- Strong understanding of instructional design theories and approaches, and hybrid learning strategies
- Experience in process improvement methodology such as Lean is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in learning and development, with a focus on instructional design, training coordination, and creating operational efficiencies in learning delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a subject matter expert in learning coordination, including scheduling, resource planning, and stakeholder communication.
- Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional project teams to support organizational learning initiatives and change management efforts.
- Experience in delivering training and educational support to staff, preferably in a healthcare or home care environment, is considered an asset.
Skills And Abilities
- Proficient in applying adult learning theories, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and learner-centric methodologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
- Skilled in using Learning Management Systems (LMS), authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise), and virtual learning platforms
- Experienced in designing and developing blended learning solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), microlearning, and performance support materials.
- Adept at conducting training needs assessments, developing learning objectives, and implementing evaluation strategies (e.g., Kirkpatrick Model) to measure learning impact.
- Capable of managing multiple learning projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with subject matter experts, cross-functional teams, and leadership to identify learning needs and co-create solutions.
- Proven ability to support organizational change initiatives through learning programs and champion a culture of continuous development.
- Competent in analyzing learning data and feedback to iterate and improve learning programs and drive performance outcomes.
- Familiarity with agile development practices in learning design, enabling rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration of learning solutions.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles to ensure learning content is usable by diverse audiences.
