Position Overview
We’re seeking a dedicated strategic leader who will play a critical role in the strategy and implementation of initiatives, programs and processes in support of a supportive and healthy employee experience and organizational culture. The Director leads the strategies that contribute to the overall values, vision and goals of Georgian’s strategic plan. These strategies include engagement, EDIB, organizational effectiveness and learning & development. This position develops and maintains strong partnerships with business leaders.

The Director is instrumental in providing leadership and vision to organizational development and execution of EDIB initiatives, strategies, programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
- Assesses current and future learning and development needs with respect to strategic objectives and cultural values.
- Oversees the analysis, planning and implementation of customized employee and team development programs to increase the effectiveness of employees within their roles and teams.
- Oversees the implementation of leadership development plans which include specific interventions to strengthen leadership capabilities across the organization.
- Develops and implements short and long-term Organizational Development and EDI goals and objectives to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient services in alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan.
- Working in a dynamic environment, this role is responsible for collaborating with college leaders to develop, implement, promote, refresh, and maintain transformational equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) strategies, policies, practices and programs across the college
- Establish and manage an equity, diversity and inclusion Centre at the college to advance issues across the college and provide support to individuals who identify as being part of target groups
- Develop internal and external partnership engagement plans to ensure community engagement and EDIB goals and programming reflect the collective expertise, and needs of the broader Georgian College community
- Research best practices, emerging information, strategies and programs relating to access and diversity to ensure that the college can provide the best developmental opportunities for faculty, staff and students
- Collaborate with existing committees and internal partners to develop and implement comprehensive strategies that will promote and maintain an inclusive, welcoming environment that supports the broader inclusion work within the college
- Act as a consultant to the President, Vice Presidents, Deans/Directors and Associate Deans to ensure principles of equity, diversity and inclusion are considered in all aspects of academic operations and program planning
- Ensure initiatives related to gender, sexuality, indigenization, internationalization, anti-racism, and other initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion are integrated and coordinated across the college
- Oversees and manages the development and implementation of the college engagement strategies, including working with various committees, and providing support and guidance to college departments in the implementation of plans.
- Collaborates with other HR areas to drive and support the development and implementation of processes, operational and service excellence solutions for the College as they relate to the primary functions of Organizational Development and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
- Demonstrates a strong service focus with respect to both internal and external community members by generating innovative ideas and solutions to meet and exceed expectations, seeking feedback to improve service quality.
- Lead and manage direct reports including recruiting, selecting and training staff; jointly establishing performance standards, providing feedback and evaluating performance with direct reports; jointly identifying training and professional development needs of direct reports and developing plans with the employees to meet those needs.
- Responsible for the oversight of resources and budgets, tuition and professional development approvals.
- Develop and utilize evaluation tools to measure attitudinal shifts in behaviour changes across the college community on an annual basis.
- Develop measurement and reporting tools to lead the assessment and regular reporting to the president and senior leadership on implementation of goals and strategies within the college
- Partner with other leaders to develop and measure student and employee recruitment strategies to meet Equity, Diversity and Inclusion goals in the college
Qualifications
- Successfully completed a master’s degree in a field related to Organizational Development, Human Resources, Law, Psychology, Business or another relevant field
- Certification in Change Management an asset
- Certification in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion an asset
- Minimum of 11 years of experience in a public sector environment or large, complex organization, in a leadership capacity with demonstrated experience in EDIB, organizational development, change management, and employee engagement.
- Proven strategic thinker able to consider, develop and work through processes that transform goals to action and deliverables.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of successful programs, processes and tools in promoting organizational development while applying practical methodology.
- Excellent abilities in interpersonal communications, corporate writing, presentations and networking.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership and the ability to engage and motivate actions at all levels through collaborative activities.
- Experienced in analyzing situations for reputational risk and applying good judgment and problem solving towards resolving critical incidents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and execute time-sensitive and essential tasks and projects and demonstrated ability to deal tactfully with sensitive issues.
- A high level of cultural competency and knowledge of cultural safety.
- Experienced administrator with knowledge of budget planning and management methodologies.
- Ability to work independently, innovate, take initiative and exercise tact and diplomacy, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Advanced skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Proficient with Learning Management Systems and other HRIS platforms.
