Fortune-Johnson is seeking a
Learning & Development Specialist to join our team. This person plays a key role in advancing Fortune-Johnson University (FJU) by designing, developing, and delivering engaging training programs that enhance employee skills and support organizational growth. This role manages the Learning Management System (LMS), develops standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical training resources, and facilitates training both on camera and in person. By blending instructional design expertise with construction knowledge and facilitation skills, the Learning & Development Specialist ensures training content is practical, accessible, and aligned with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Content Development
- Design and produce training materials, including manuals, SOPs, videos, e-learning modules, and job aids.
- Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to document and translate construction processes into clear training resources.
- Maintain and update training content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
Training Delivery
- Facilitate training through video modules, live virtual sessions, and in-person workshops.
- Deliver training tailored to diverse audiences, including field staff, office personnel, and technical specialists.
- Use engaging methods that enhance learning retention and application.
LMS Management & Reporting
- Administer the company’s LMS: upload, assign, and manage training content.
- Monitor participation, track completions, and generate reporting dashboards for leadership.
- Provide recommendations for improving LMS functionality and learner engagement.
Program Support & Alignment
- Expand and manage the catalog of Fortune-Johnson University programs.
- Support compliance training and technical skill development initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure training aligns with business strategy and workforce needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Construction Management, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- 2–5 years of experience in training, instructional design, or learning & development.
- Construction or technical industry background strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and e-learning authoring tools.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Comfortable on camera and in live facilitation environments.
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of instructional design and adult learning principles.
- Ability to simplify technical or construction-related concepts into clear, actionable training.
- Skilled in balancing LMS administration with curriculum development.
- Creative, learner-focused approach to training design and facilitation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
