ABOUT THE ROLE
As Head of Leadership Coaching at Makers, your team will deliver our digital leadership programmes.
Leadership here is defined as leadership for the digital age, equipping leaders to navigate technological transformation, build high-performing teams in hybrid environments, and drive innovation. Key partners in your work will be the Head of Curriculum and the leadership curriculum lead who will write the curriculum. You will lead the team who deliver it.
Success in this space is building an exceptional team of industry experts (some in house/ some contractors) who deliver training that amazes, inspires and transforms the organisations and individuals we support.
SCOPE OF THE ROLE
Select an industry-experienced and cutting edge coaching team, well versed in all key concepts
- You will understand deeply the profile of the coaches you are recruiting. You recognise that exceptional leadership coaches combine deep leadership experience with an understanding of the digital transformation context. You will need to think deeply about the mindset and capabilities you need and work with our People team to work out how to find them. You understand that your leadership specialist coaches will be running workshops for leaders navigating digital transformation, building high-performing teams, and driving innovation in their organisations.
- You will work with the Director of Education effectively to communicate the company's vision and goals to the coaches as they join the team and thereafter, ensuring they understand their role in the broader strategy and are equipped with the resources to execute their plans.
Train that team to ensure their knowledge remains cutting edge, their coaching skills continuously improve and that their work is deeply aligned with Makers' education and organisational values
- You will lead and nurture the coaches in the team, investing in their continuous growth.
- You will lead or facilitate high quality, efficient training in areas relevant to their roles.
- You will ensure the coaching team is not only well-versed in the required subject knowledge for their role, but also adept at integrating innovative leadership frameworks, digital-age management practices, and contemporary organizational development methodologies into their teaching, scheduling and supporting the coaches in a way that enables them to do so.
Performance manage, oversee and quality assure the team's coaching to ensure each day of coaching is of high quality
- You will foster an inclusive, diverse, and safe working and learning environment, ensuring team processes align with the organisation's code of conduct and policies. Promote a positive team atmosphere that encourages collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement.
- You will oversee the performance of the team, conducting regular 1:1s, setting clear individual goals, and managing performance to foster a world-class training team.
- You will ensure the high levels of professional practice through quality assurance.
Develop the team to take on more responsibility over time
- You will support coaches to progressively take on more leadership responsibilities and roles, increasing the strength of mentorship and leadership cultivation within the team.
Manage each individual cohort from their onboarding through to their completion, ensuring the success of 'Day 1', responding to feedback, managing escalations
- You will take responsibility for key events in the training calendar, for example, the first day of the programme or the last, and ensuring these run successfully.
- You will coordinate all education-focused work required to deliver the programmes. For example, coaching, assessment, arranging cover for sickness or leave, other tasks as required.
- You will respond to escalated complaints from partners or learners and bring them to a positive conclusion.
- Overall, you will take full responsibility for the quality of learning and experience for all learners.
Provide insight and advice on the delivery model - e.g., the best way to schedule content over time; relevant leadership case studies and examples to bring content to life
- You will understand and incorporate cutting edge leadership thinking and practices into our course delivery, staying abreast of evolving management frameworks, digital leadership models, and organizational transformation strategies.
Educate the Business
- You will support strategic work and be a point of contact across the business in a leadership development context, ensuring alignment with the organisation's mission and contributing to the overall strategy and execution from your team's perspective.
- You will regularly collaborate with key stakeholders, particularly Client Partners, to provide transparent updates and insights into the progression of learners to our employer partners, throughout their journey. This involves establishing clear channels of communication and feedback mechanisms to ensure that the evolving needs and expectations of both clients and the business are met.
- You will develop and distribute educational content, such as newsletters, blog posts, or internal communications, that keeps the wider business informed about the latest trends in leadership development, success stories from the training programme, and insights into the learning journey.
- You will be a community lead in the organisation to ensure leadership training is represented, for example joining squads or groups to tackle cross-team problems/opportunities.
Be a leader within Training
- You will ensure that you are a known leader for consultation, coaching and/or advice in regards to leadership development in Training.
- You will be a part of the leadership team within the wider Education team to help co-design the roadmap, and decide on priorities and areas for development.
- You will work closely with the Chief Experience Officer, Director of Education, Head of Engineering Coaching, Head of Curriculum and Head of Operations to develop and deliver new programmes and products, whilst safeguarding quality.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Your background is technical leadership or leadership in technical companies, but broadly defined.
- You are interested in and skilled at leadership, broadly defined.
- You have personal experience in Leadership and are a credible voice/professional to fellow leaders that you will coach and continue to inform your practice on the latest leadership thought work.
- You are a self-driven enthusiast/lover of all things Leadership, Tech and AI and in particular how transformative digital leadership can change the way we work for the better.
- You have strong people management experience and may have coaching qualifications / interest.
- You are confident you have the ability to influence and motivate others in transformative leadership.
- You may have designed and led leadership development programmes, ideally in fast-paced or tech-led environments.
- You are comfortable both shaping the strategic vision to lead a team and rolling up your sleeves to fix delivery issues or design learning journeys.
