Summary:
Highly Motivated And Self-driven Business Development And Relationship Management Professional, With a Dual Focus On Industry Engagement And Outreach In Canada
- Raise awareness of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and its membership, educational programs, and professional development opportunities in Canada through relationship management and engagement of employers, benefit funds, providers, universities, and other industry stakeholders.
- Conduct sales and new business development activities including prospecting and lead generation for Canadian sponsorship and advertising opportunities.
This role is intended to be fully remote from a home-based office, preferably in the Toronto, Ontario area; with regular travel up-to 40% of the time.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Establish, grow, and maintain relationships with key industry partners while promoting greater industry awareness of the International Foundation’s purpose, brand, products, and services.
- Facilitate meetings and calls with employers to determine their educational needs and identify the appropriate educational solutions. Guide them on how to maximize the value of the solutions for their teams and identify educational paths to expand career-long learning and development.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Foundation’s membership services, education and professional development programs, and exhibit, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities.
- Represent the International Foundation at industry events, trade shows and networking events. When necessary, travel to meet with members, gain industry insights and solicit new business for:
- -- Membership and educational program participation growth
- -- Promotion of exhibit, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities.
- Conduct sales and new business development activities including prospecting and lead generation using passive sales/marketing methods (e.g.: direct mail, email, social media, etc.) and active sales/marketing methods (e.g.: cold calling, onsite visits, responding to website inquiries, etc.)
- Support the sales team in identifying and contacting leads, initiating communications, and transitioning prospects to appropriate internal team members for closure.
- Support the development and management of joint venture strategies, affiliations, partnership arrangements, and acquisitions to maximize the reach and visibility of the Foundation.
- Responsible for own CRM system data entry and data maintenance as it relates to prospect contact information, lead generation, sales funnel tracking, and sales conversion tracking. Maintain historical records of past sales prospects and contacts.
- Analyze growth opportunities and collaborate with leadership on the development and oversight of the Foundation’s Canadian outreach plan. Implement and report on outreach initiatives, responding to opportunities and changing needs among members, key affiliations and other target audiences.
- Develop and provide regular performance reports and forecasts and maintain accountability for outreach and sales goals achievement, including but not limited to respective key metrics and/or budget achievement. Evaluates ROI of lead generation and sales efforts.
- Collaborate with other outreach and business development team members to create engaging, dynamic promotional approaches for specific audiences and programs. Provide support in the development, execution, and maintenance of sales collateral and/or marketing materials to be provided to prospective exhibitors, advertisers, and/or sponsors for Canadian programs.
- Support business development, membership, and all educational areas in market analysis and research; providing insight and advising staff on industry developments, trends, competitor activity, new market entrants, and content and service opportunities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No formal supervisory responsibilities; however, incumbent may be required to train/mentor more junior staff members.
Requirements
Required Education/ Experience:
The International Foundation will always consider candidates with an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years' relevant experience in a role that focuses on relationship management, business development, and account management/stewardship where both account retention and account growth are key performance indicators.
- Strongly prefer candidates with experience in the employee benefits or educational programming industry who possess a basic understanding of Canadian employee benefits programs.
- A Certified Employee Benefit Specialist® (CEBS®) designation is desirable; however, the right candidate can attain certification within 60 months (5 years) following hire.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is highly desirable.

- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and results driven with a strong work ethic.
- Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to shifting priorities. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to clearly and professionally articulate the value and benefits of membership and educational programs to diverse audiences.
- Exhibits strong networking skills with demonstrated success in developing relationships and engaging current and prospective members and program participants.
- Collaborative team player, who works effectively across departments to help expand engagement and participation in programs and membership.
- Proven track record in conducting outreach, developing new, relevant business leads, converting those leads, and ultimately driving revenue growth within established parameters and guidelines.
- Must be proficient in using CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Smartsheet experience a plus.
Travel Requirements
In addition to periodic travel to the International Foundation’s office in Brookfield, WI, the individual will be required to travel both domestically and internationally 30-40% of the time based on annual calendars.
Up to fifteen (15) additional paid days off work (“Comp Days”) are offered per year for mandatory, travel-related work conducted on weekend days.
Work Environment
This individual will work on a fully remote basis from an approved home-based office (in Canada) with regular/periodic travel to the Brookfield, WI headquarters office and work-related meetings and events. More time at the office may be required during onboarding and training, or special all-company activities. An appropriately-equipped home office is required to allow remote work, per the terms of the company’s Remote and Hybrid Work policy.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The employee will occasionally be required to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place. While attending offsite events, the individual will need to be able to work for longer-than-normal periods of time (upwards of 10-12 hours per day) over consecutive days, which may result in up-to twelve consecutive workdays of varying length. The employee will regularly stand and walk for long distances and/or extended periods of time. The incumbent is regularly required to talk and listen and frequently required to sit and use hands for tasks requiring dexterity and/or grasping and holding. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Additionally, when preparing for business trips, events and meetings, the employee may be required to unpack and assemble materials and equipment. Individual must be able to lift and maneuver crates and suitcases weighing 30-50 lbs.; and occasionally up-to 100lbs in a team-lift capacity. When attending trips, events and meetings, the incumbent will be expected to walk long distances and may be expected to stand for extended periods of time.
