The Opportunity:
The Director of Training, Information Sciences (IS) will define and lead the enterprise-wide strategy for training and change enablement that drives successful adoption of business systems and digital capabilities across Revolution Medicines. This senior leader will serve as a strategic partner and thought leader—working closely with IS leadership, system owners, Quality, and functional executives—to ensure the organization is equipped with the knowledge and skills to fully leverage critical information systems from R&D through commercialization.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in instructional strategy, organizational learning, and digital adoption within a regulated life sciences environment. This individual will lead a team responsible for developing and delivering innovative, compliant, and scalable training programs that support operational excellence and inspection readiness across all GxP and non-GxP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Define and execute the enterprise IS training and learning strategy in alignment with corporate goals, system roadmaps, and business transformation initiatives
- Serve as the senior advisor to IS and business leadership on training best practices, digital adoption, and user enablement.
- Build and sustain a training governance model to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality across all learning programs.
- Lead IS Training Strategy & Delivery
- Design and implement scalable, engaging, and effective training programs for new and existing business systems across R&D, G&A, and Commercial functions.
- Support change management efforts by building awareness, knowledge, and proficiency among end users.
- Develop & Curate IS-Specific Training Content
- Create and maintain training materials (e.g., eLearning, job aids, quick reference guides, facilitator guides) that align with system functionality and business processes.
- Ensure training content is current, accessible, and tailored to various user audiences.
- Enable SMEs to Train Effectively
- Empower, coach and train subject matter experts to deliver system-specific training confidently and consistently.
- Establish enterprise standards for instructional design, content development, and delivery methodologies. Provide frameworks, templates, and delivery support to internal trainers.
- Leverage Training Tools & Platforms
- Utilize digital learning tools (e.g., LMS, eLearning software, video, virtual labs) to enhance learning experiences.
- Lead the strategic selection, implementation and optimization of learning platforms.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with IS project managers, system owners, QA, IT, and business functions to align training efforts with project milestones and user readiness needs.
- Ensure training complies with applicable industry regulations and internal quality standards.
- Ensure GxP system training is properly documented, assigned, tracked, and audit-ready, in alignment with regulatory and quality requirements. Represent IS Training in governance forums and inspections to demonstrate compliance and continuous improvement.
- Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Define success metrics for training effectiveness, adoption, and business impact; report outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Monitor training outcomes and feedback to assess effectiveness and iterate on training programs.
- Analyze user feedback and performance data to continuously refine learning programs and drive measurable improvements in usage and compliance.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in training strategy, program design and delivery, and learning leadership, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences sector.
- Proven expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and training methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of digital training tools.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide learning initiatives, system implementations, and managing high performing teams.
- Deep understanding of GxP environments and the design and delivery of GxP-compliant training programs.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry processes from R&D through commercialization.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong project and portfolio management capabilities; able to balance strategic priorities with operational execution.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience training in both in-person and remote/virtual formats in a global organization.
- Change management experience and certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate training strategies with broader organizational capability-building efforts.
- Knowledge of project management principles and tools.
