What You’ll Do
The Director of Learning & Development (L&D) will be responsible for shaping Viant’s talent development strategy, with a particular emphasis on accelerating the onboarding of engineering talent. This leader will build scalable learning programs, ensuring employees can accelerate their careers. This leader will partner with executives, managers, and HR stakeholders to design impactful training, leadership development, and career pathing initiatives that align with our company’s mission and business goals.
THE DAY-TO-DAY
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development programs (onboarding, functional training, leadership development, and career pathways) to reduce time-to-productivity, drive innovation, and strengthen retention, with immediate priority on engineering onboarding, technical bootcamps, and functional training
- Partner with executives and managers to identify technical and non-technical skills gaps and create targeted learning solutions that drive measurable performance improvements; leverage feedback loops to track effectiveness and improve upon program design
- Establish frameworks for ongoing leadership and management training, including coaching, feedback, and performance development.
- Build and oversee scalable systems for L&D (e.g., LMS platforms, content libraries, manager toolkits) to enable consistent employee development across locations.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and career growth, embedding development into core employee experiences and ensuring onboarding sets up new hires to succeed in high-velocity environments.
- Collaborate with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, and senior leadership to ensure learning programs support talent retention, succession planning, and overall employee engagement.
- Monitor trends in learning science, technology, and organizational development to bring innovative approaches to Viant.
GREAT TO HAVE
- 10+ years of progressive experience in learning & development, talent management, or organizational development.
- Proven ability to build enterprise-wide L&D strategies and programs at a scaling organization, ideally including technical onboarding or engineering enablement.
- Strong background in instructional design, adult learning methodologies, and leadership development best practices.
- Demonstrated success implementing learning technology solutions (LMS, virtual training platforms, content tools).
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and consulting skills; ability to influence leaders at all levels.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Organizational Development, HR, or related field preferred. Experience working in or supporting engineering/technical organizations strongly preferred.

Base compensation range: $170,000 - $190,000
In accordance with California law, the range provided is Viant’s reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. Final title and compensation for the position will be based on several factors including work experience and education.
