Vice President of Learning & Development
Overview
We are seeking a Vice President of Learning & Development to lead the design, development, and execution of innovative, scalable training strategies within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This executive role combines deep technical expertise with visionary learning leadership to deliver impactful programs that elevate employee performance, drive operational excellence, and support business innovation. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience from a technical field or senior training leadership role within a large technology organization, with a sharp focus on aligning training initiatives to evolving business and industry demands.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Training Leadership
- Set the strategic direction for technical training and learning initiatives across the organization.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and innovation at all levels.
- Align training programs with business objectives, workforce planning, and organizational growth strategies.
Training Design & Development
- Oversee the creation and delivery of scalable, high-impact training programs for technical teams, covering onboarding, certifications, and systems training.
- Direct the development of modular, interactive learning solutions using cutting-edge instructional design and engineering principles (e.g., simulations, code labs, product walkthroughs).
- Ensure all training content reflects emerging technologies, best practices, and competitive industry standards.
Technical Integration
- Partner with engineering, product, and IT leaders to translate complex technical processes into effective, engaging learning experiences.
- Implement and oversee enterprise-wide training platforms, including LMS systems, virtual labs, and AI-assisted learning tools.
- Integrate internal and external training resources into a cohesive, accessible learning ecosystem.
Performance Optimization
- Establish organizational KPIs to measure training effectiveness, learning outcomes, and business impact.
- Leverage analytics and learner feedback to continuously refine and enhance learning strategies, maximize engagement, and improve ROI.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership, HR, and department heads to assess organizational training needs and prioritize key learning initiatives.
- Act as a strategic liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and cross-functional alignment.
Knowledge Leadership
- Serve as an executive advisor and technical mentor, providing guidance to internal training teams, instructional designers, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Represent the learning function at the leadership table, driving conversations on talent development, digital transformation, and future workforce capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Instructional Design, or a related technical field.
- 8–10+ years of experience in technical training leadership, learning & development, or engineering enablement roles.
- Demonstrated success designing and scaling technical training programs in large, tech-centric organizations.
- Strong background in LMS platforms and learning tools
- Deep understanding of systems architecture, software development workflows, or IT infrastructure.
- Executive-level communication, collaboration, and change management skills.
- Must pass extensive pre-employment screening.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree or advanced certifications in training, engineering, or learning technologies (e.g., CPTD, AWS Certified Instructor).
- Experience leading training during digital transformation, organizational change, or system migrations.
