Position Summary
The Learning and Development Specialist will design, develop, deliver, and evaluate effective learning solutions—including eLearning—to support business objectives and employee development. This role also serves as a secondary administrator for our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and timely learner support.
You will apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to build impactful, engaging, and scalable learning experiences that align with Marsden’s strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Solutions Development & Delivery
- Collaborate and partner with Learning and Development team, subject matter experts, and business representatives to:
- Assess training needs.
- Design and develop consistent, appropriate and timely deliverables using a holistic approach.
- Implement training solutions in conjunction with business activities (e.g., deployments).
- Evaluate effectiveness, audience-centric training solutions.
- Update and maintain accurate training content, as needed/directed.
- Apply blended-learning approach (as appropriate and feasible).
- Develop professional, engaging, brand-aligned, visually impactful, interactive, and effective training programs and materials using a variety of tools (e.g., Vimeo, H5P, EasyGenerator, Articulate Studio & Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate, Photoshop/Fireworks, PowerPoint, Word) that deliver a meaningful learning experience.
- Assist with the development of brand-aligned training standards.
- Apply adult learning strategies to ensure impactful and effective learning experiences.
- Serve as key resource and subject matter expert on eLearning technologies, their use and appropriate tool set for the organization, ensuring appropriate and most effective use of investments. Evaluate and recommend new training technologies and venues, when applicable.
Learning Management System Administration
- Partner with LMS Administrator to ensure effective and optimized platform administration including but not limited to uploading on-line learning and resources, maintaining accurate information, running reports, supporting system upgrades or changes, helping users, etc.
- Support day-to-day management and operation of the learning management system, as well as enhancements, upgrades, or implementations, to serve the needs of the organization.
Talent Management Team
- Collaborate to ensure the team’s collective success and build knowledge and skills. Consistently acting as a team player.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, efficiently, and effectively while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Support the implementation of enterprise-wide training programs and events, in alignment with the programs’ intended purpose, goals, and content.
- Partner, collaborate, communicate, and coordinate all aspects of program administration and across roles to include the Talent Management team, leaders and their assistants, HR staff, Trainers, and vendor-partners.
- Communicate project status clearly and effectively to all stakeholders.
- May facilitate learning experiences (e.g., classroom, virtual).
- Assist with leadership development, on-boarding and other people initiatives.

- Technically adept; comfortable with data, systems, and eLearning tools.
- Knowledgeable in adult learning theory and its application in business/retail settings.
- Proficient in learning and development, training technologies, and multimedia content creation.
- Enterprise experience and the ability to build relationships both formal and informal
- Able to communicate and collaborate across all organizational levels.
Education and Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in instructional design/training development, including e-learning development, for various audiences.
- Track record of successful training design, development and implementation experience using various methods (e.g., paper-based, facilitated, webcasts, e-learning) and software (e.g., Articulate Studio & Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, Photoshop/Fireworks).
- Microsoft Office proficiency, expert-level in Word and PowerPoint.
- Learning management system experience required including associated web technologies knowledge.
- Various evaluation techniques and methodologies.
- Enterprise, front line and distributed audience experience, strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in instructional or training design, education or related discipline such as web-based adult education.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Hours and workdays are typically Monday – Friday, regular business hours, with occasional evening and weekend work. Hybrid workplace, typically 1 – 2 days/week onsite, and quarterly in-person meetings.
Travel
May include driving personal vehicle locally for work purposes. Required to meet company driving policy conditions.
