Job Summary
We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Korean Language Course Development to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in creating engaging and effective learning experiences for adult learners. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in instructional design, curriculum development, and teaching methodologies, particularly in the context of the Korean language. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to develop high-quality course materials that align with learning objectives and industry standards.
1. Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Korean language, Korean linguistics, Korean language education, applied linguistics, or a closely related field.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Korean and strong proficiency in English.
- Demonstrated expertise (at least 2 years of experience) in teaching Korean at the elementary and intermediate level in a college or university setting.
2. Online Teaching & Course Development Experience
- Experience developing or adapting online language courses, preferably in a higher education environment.
- Familiarity with alignment of course content with measurable learning outcomes.
- Experience creating interactive, communicative activities that support all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
3. Pedagogical Expertise
- Strong understanding of proficiency-based and communicative language teaching approaches.
- Ability to scaffold content for beginners, including grammar explanations, vocabulary building, and cultural integration.
- Knowledge of effective assessment design for language learning (formative and summative).
4. Collaboration
- Ability to work closely with ILD, Portfolio Director and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated collaborative spirit, flexibility, and commitment to working as part of a diverse team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; able to meet deadlines and adapt to evolving project needs.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
