The manager, Learning & Development leads a team of learning professionals to design and deliver programs that support critical retail business goals and enhances partner capabilities in service of career growth. This role manages the execution of learning strategies, oversees program development, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
As a manager, Learning & Development, you will…
- Lead a team of learning professionals in the design, development, and delivery of training programs that support business objectives with a primary focus on our coffeehouse (retail) audience.
- Manage day-to-day operations of multiple learning initiatives, ensuring timely execution and alignment with organizational needs and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to assess learning needs and implement creative, effective solutions that deliver desired operational outcomes.
- Monitor program effectiveness through data analysis and feedback and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide learning and training expertise, consultation and thought partnership to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Support the professional development of team members through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Ensure learning content is inclusive, accessible, and aligned with company values and compliance standards.
We’d Love To Hear From People With
- Minimum 7 years of experience in learning and development, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or a related field
- Strong team leadership and people management skills
- Proficiency in instructional design and adult learning principles
- Project management and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze learning data and apply insights to improve programs
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
- Familiarity with learning technologies and LMS platforms
- Budget management and vendor coordination experience

- If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
