Department Description
The Global Leadership, Learning & Development team is part of the firm’s People function and supports the People strategy across each of the firm’s regions (Americas, APAC and EMEA) through a range of global, regional, and local development programs, workshops, e-learning, and other career development activities.
Role Overview
The Head of Digital Learning & Development operates at the intersection of learning and development and digital technologies, delivering future-ready solutions that drive professional excellence and support organizational growth, bringing digital innovation and AI integration into the firm’s global approach to learning & development. The person in this role will work closely with the Global Head of Leadership, Learning & Development, the Regional Heads of Learning & Development, the Heads of Knowledge, Knowledge Lawyers, and other Business Team departments, as well as the Global Managing Partner for Digitalization, the Deputy CEO and other firm leaders.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Working with the Global Managing Partner for Digitalization, other senior stakeholders and subject matter experts (including IT), support the development and execution of a forward-looking approach to digital learning and development, including the approach to online learning and the use of AI, that aligns with the firm’s talent development goals and legal excellence standards.
- Oversee the development and implementation of scalable digital learning and development frameworks for both lawyers and Business Team professionals, including virtual learning environments, blended programs, and AI-powered coaching tools.
- Guide the Learning & Development team’s approach to utilizing the LMS platform and use of external online learning libraries, maximizing engagement and ensuring return on investment.
- Embed Generative AI and emerging technologies into learning and development products, platforms, processes and existing development programs to create enhanced personalized learning pathways, and increase efficiency and impact.
- Lead the design and delivery of digitally enabled and online learning and development solutions that support evolving career pathways for lawyers and Business Team professionals.
- Enable the wider Leadership, Learning & Development team to embed AI and digital tools into programs, workshops and broader learning and development activities, empowering them to lead the way in shaping and sharing future-ready learning practices.
- Drive analytics and impact measurement to inform decision-making and optimize digital learning and development investments.
- Develop a culture of innovation and digital fluency across the firm through thought leadership, internal advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
- Keep up-to-date with learning and development trends, law firm business trends, e-learning technology and use of AI in learning and development programs and platforms, and share this knowledge with others in the wider firm.
- Be an active member of the Leadership, Learning & Development global senior team, and manage the Digital Learning & Development team in a way that aligns with the wider firm culture and team principles.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process, and manage the Digital Learning & Development budget.
Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.

Person Specification
Qualifications And Training
- The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate previous experience of working in a similar role in a law firm or other professional services firm, preferably of comparable scale and scope. Your career will have been characterised by clear patterns of success and achievement.
- Proven track record in leading on a digital learning and development strategy and transformation within a global organization, with a focus on harnessing digital/technology tools and platforms to build a future-ready approach to learning and development.

- Deep digital fluency, with a good understanding of different learning and development tools and platforms and AI-powered tools.

- Strong intellectual capacity with the ability to apply new ideas.
