Position Summary
The Director of Learning Experience is responsible for the overall strategy, development, and delivery of high-quality, engaging, and impactful learning experiences for HFMA members. This role will play a critical role in driving member engagement and professional development, ensuring HFMA remains the leading provider of healthcare finance education.
Responsibilities
Learning Strategy & Development
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive learning strategy aligned with the strategic goals of HFMA and the evolving needs of healthcare finance professionals.
- Oversee the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of a diverse portfolio of learning experiences, including:
- In-person and virtual workshops, seminars, and conferences
- Online courses, webinars, micro-learning modules, and the learning management system (Maple)
- Self-paced learning resources, such as articles, white papers, and case studies
- Mentorship programs and peer-to-peer learning opportunities
Curriculum Design & Development
- Work closely with subject matter experts, industry leaders, and internal stakeholders to develop high-quality, relevant, and engaging learning content.
- Ensure the accuracy, currency, and accessibility of all learning materials.
- Ensure compliance with Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements.
- Leverage data and analytics to measure learning effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives and make data-driven improvements.
Technology & Innovation
- Explore and implement innovative learning technologies and methodologies, such as gamification, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence to meet diverse audience needs and extend reach.
- Manage and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) and other learning technologies.
- Ensure that all learning experiences are accessible and inclusive to meet diverse learner needs and enhance learning outcomes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external learning partners to bring innovative solutions and industry best practices to the organization.
Performance Metrics
- Establish KPIs for learning beyond registration, such as engagement levels, satisfaction scores, and long-term member value.
- Use data analytics to drive decision-making and demonstrate ROI.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of learning professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Act as a key advisor to leadership on best practices in learning, development and user experience.
- Work closely with internal partners to ensure alignment of learning initiatives with business needs.
- Oversee the budgeting and resource allocation for all learning activities.
Member Engagement
- Promote and market learning opportunities to HFMA members through various channels, including email, social media, and the HFMA website.
- Gather feedback from members on their learning experiences and use it to continuously improve program quality.
- Build strong relationships with members and key stakeholders in the healthcare finance community.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in learning and education development, preferably in a corporate or professional services setting.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and delivering engaging and effective learning experiences for adult learners.
Critical Competencies
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), authoring tools, and video conferencing platforms.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.
