OVERVIEW
As a member of the Learning and Development team and reporting to the Manager, Learning and Development, the Specialist, Learning and Development will be responsible for creating and designing in-person and virtual instructor-led training courses and programs, developing interactive eLearning courses, facilitating workshops and training sessions, and evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives.
To succeed in this role, you must possess the ability to collaborate with stakeholders from across the business to identify training needs and to develop effective learning solutions to address those needs.
Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, and as key member of the People and Culture team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping CM’s learning and development initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement effective, and engaging training programs using a variety of delivery methods (e.g., instructor-led, eLearning, job aids, virtual, assessments, infographics, etc.).
- Support the creation of an active learning environment for all virtual instructor-led and instructor led learning courses, by incorporating gamification and interactivity.
- Facilitate engaging training sessions, workshops for employees at all levels, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles.
- Demonstrate an energetic attitude and facilitation skills to present information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats to enhance learning.
- Work closely with subject matter experts on content creation (storyboards, scripts, training decks, handouts, etc.) for training resources.
- Design and develop interactive eLearning courses using a variety of multimedia elements (including but not limited to rich multimedia, audio, video, graphics, illustrations, animations, infographics, etc.).
- Manage and coordinate with external training vendors or platforms when necessary.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and other feedback mechanisms, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes and meet objectives.
- Oversee the kickoff, launch, implementation, delivery, facilitation, and feedback processes for various programs, including new hire training, current employee training, employee development programs, and internship-related training initiatives.
- Manage the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its functionality and user experience.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities and provide regular reports to management.
- Organize, update, and manage the company’s training media library on SharePoint to ensure all training materials are accessible, up-to-date, and provisioned based on user access and visibility.
- Organize, update, and maintain assigned areas within the company’s Knowledge Management System, ensuring information is well-structured, current, and easily accessible to authorized users.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries received in the department’s shared mailbox, ensuring timely and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Recommend technology tools and platforms to support overall learning objectives.
- Support Strategic Planning and Alignment activities, aligning learning goals with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate on and contribute to additional projects as identified by the department and business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in training/education, human resources, organizational development, business and/or social sciences.
Experience
- 3+ years extensive experience assisting in Education in Adult Training & Development, Leadership and / or Organizational Development or equivalent.
Knowledge/Competencies/Skills
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Proven knowledge and application of adult learning principles and instructional principles and/or methodologies, preferably in an educational or corporate or similar training environments.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, experience with Virtual Collaboration Tools: Familiarity with Teams, Zoom, or WebEx.
- Knowledge/experience working with different Learning Management Systems (LMS), is required
- Experience designing, developing, and/or implementing eLearning courses, and interactive web-based and instructor-led resources in an adult education environment is required
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of products, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, OneDrive and SharePoint is required
- Advanced proficiency in Articulate 360 is required
- Experience in Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud products (i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop) is an asset.
- Additional certifications in Learning and Development, such as APTD, CPTD, or equivalent, are considered an asset.
- A proactive thinker who consistently explores out-of-the-box and creative approaches to work, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and organizational needs.
- Adept at simultaneously managing various projects, meeting deadlines, and accurately estimating time required for deliverables.
- Demonstrated creativity skills, and willingness to learn.
- Flexible team player, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Adaptability and problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative and teamwork mindset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a home office environment.
