Learning & Development (L&D) Lead – Business Development (BD)
Position Overview:
As the L&D Lead for Business Development, you will be responsible for developing and executing learning initiatives that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of our business development teams. Working closely with business leaders, sales professionals, and L&D experts, you will ensure that BD teams are equipped with the tools and strategies necessary to drive revenue growth, build client relationships, and succeed in an evolving market.
Key Responsibilities:
L&D Strategy for BD Teams: Lead the development of a comprehensive L&D strategy for business development professionals, including sales, account management, and strategic partnerships.
Program Design & Delivery: Create and implement tailored learning programs that focus on key areas such as sales techniques, negotiation skills, client relationship management, business acumen, and market intelligence.
Skills Development: Identify key skill gaps and provide targeted learning solutions to elevate the capabilities of BD teams, from junior sales representatives to senior business development executives.
Onboarding & Continuous Learning: Develop and maintain an engaging onboarding program for new BD hires, and create continuous learning opportunities to support career growth and development.
Coaching & Mentorship: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by coaching and mentoring BD leaders and teams on sales strategies, performance optimization, and soft skills.
Technology Integration: Utilize learning management systems (LMS), virtual classrooms, and other digital platforms to deliver scalable and engaging training programs.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with other departments, including Marketing, Product, and HR, to ensure training programs align with business goals and are informed by the latest industry trends.
Performance Metrics & Reporting: Track the effectiveness of learning programs through feedback, performance assessments, and data analytics, and continuously refine learning content based on results.
Leadership Development: Design leadership development programs aimed at nurturing high-potential BD professionals into future leaders within the organization.
Client & Market Insights: Stay abreast of industry trends, client expectations, and market changes to ensure BD training programs remain relevant and impactful.
Qualifications:
Proven experience (5+ years) in Learning & Development, with a focus on business development, sales, or customer-facing roles.
Strong understanding of business development strategies, sales processes, client relationship management, and market dynamics.
Demonstrated success in designing and delivering training programs that drive performance improvements for sales or BD teams.
Strong facilitation skills, with experience delivering in-person, virtual, and blended learning solutions.
Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning tools.
Ability to assess learning needs, design engaging training content, and evaluate program effectiveness.
Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical mindset, with the ability to use data to assess learning effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, HR, or a related field. Advanced certifications or training in sales or L&D are a plus.
