Job Overview
The Learning and Development Specialist plays a critical role in enhancing employee skills and knowledge through effective training programs. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating training and development initiatives that align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organization.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs and curricula tailored to various roles and employee needs, including leadership training, vendor/product training, role specific training, health and safety etc.
- Develop and implement an Learning Management System system to manage and track all training and development
- Conduct data collection and analysis to assess training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement, including training surveys
- Manage program logistics, including scheduling, materials preparation, and participant communication.
- Utilize instructional design principles to create engaging learning experiences
- Facilitate training sessions both in-person and virtually as required, ensuring a positive learning environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices in learning and development
- Coordinates activities related to training grants and subsidies
- Develop relationships with training and development partners, including colleges and training vendors
Experience
- Completion of post secondary education in a relevant discipline such as adult education, adult learning methodologies and/or combination of education and experience
- Strong background in human resources and program management with demonstrated success in developing training and development programs and initiatives (3 to 5 years experience preferred)
- Familiarity with data collection methods to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and digital learning platforms
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information
