Role Purpose
The Senior Learning & Development Specialist plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the UK, Ireland & Africa Learning & Development strategy through the design, implementation and continuous improvement of learning and talent solutions.
The role combines learning design, digital curation, programme implementation, capability development and project delivery to ensure employees have access to high-quality, engaging and impactful learning experiences.
Reporting to the Senior Learning & Development Manager, the role acts as a senior specialist within the regional L&D team. The role holder will lead activity within their areas of expertise and influence stakeholders across the business, whilst working within the strategic direction, priorities and governance established by the Senior Learning & Development Manager and Head of Learning & Development.
This is a key role in enabling delivery, adoption and continuous improvement. It is intended to operate with autonomy and credibility, but in support of the Senior Learning & Development Manager and Head of Learning & Development rather than carrying sole accountability for regional L&D strategy, investment decisions, prioritisation or overall function performance.
The role supports a broad range of L&D activity, including digital learning design and curation, implementation of learning and talent programmes, employee lifecycle learning, regional projects, leadership and capability development initiatives, and the deployment of mandatory and compliance learning across the region.
Key Accountabilities
- Learning Design, Delivery & Digital Curation
- Design, curate and deliver engaging learning solutions across digital, virtual, face-to-face and blended formats.
- Create learning pathways, resources and development journeys that support career growth, capability development and business priorities.
- Adapt global learning content for local relevance and application.
- Facilitate learning interventions and development programmes where required.
- Promote self-directed learning and increase adoption of digital learning resources across the region.
- Programme Implementation & Regional Delivery
- Support and coordinate the rollout of regional and global learning, Learning and Development programmes.
- Translate learning strategies and programme requirements into practical delivery plans, with guidance and governance from the Senior Learning & Development Manager.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of regional L&D projects and strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate with HR, business stakeholders and Global Learning Operations to support effective implementation and learner engagement.
- Identify delivery risks, dependencies and implementation challenges, escalating where appropriate and recommending practical solutions.
- Compliance & Mandatory Learning
- Act as the regional subject matter lead for compliance and mandatory learning deployment.
- Support the implementation of compliance learning campaigns and mandatory learning requirements across the region.
- Monitor completion data and learning adoption, highlighting risks and recommending actions to the Senior Learning & Development Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Partner with operational leaders, HR and Global Learning Operations to improve compliance performance and learner engagement.
- Provide reporting and insight on compliance learning activity across the region.
- Learning Technology & Learner Experience
- Act as a regional learning technology specialist and key point of contact for learning platforms and digital resources.
- Partner with Global Learning Operations to improve learner experience, digital adoption, reporting capability and learning effectiveness.
- Use learning data and feedback to continuously enhance learning pathways and digital content.
- Champion best practice in digital learning, accessibility and modern learning approaches.
- Capability & Talent Development
- Work with the regional L&D team and HR colleagues to identify capability needs and development priorities.
- Support learning initiatives linked to onboarding, career development, performance development, leadership development and talent programmes.
- Contribute expertise and recommendations that help shape effective learning and development solutions.
- Support talent and succession development activities led by senior members of the L&D team.
- Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate learning effectiveness through data, feedback and stakeholder insight.
- Analyse learning trends and identify opportunities to improve learner experience, engagement and impact.
- Produce meaningful reporting and insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Recommend improvements to learning content, processes and delivery approaches.
- Stakeholder Partnership
- Build effective partnerships with business leaders, HR colleagues, programme sponsors and global stakeholders.
- Participates in regional and global learning networks and communities of practice, collaborating with colleagues to share insights, support continuous improvement and promote consistency across learning initiatives.
- Influence through expertise, credibility and evidence-based recommendations.
- Collaborate across regional and global teams to support successful implementation of learning initiatives.
- Support facilitators, delivery partners and stakeholders to maintain high-quality learning experiences.
Essential
Key Skills & Experience
- Adobe Premier Pro experience with tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Adobe Captivate or equivalent authoring tools.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning platforms to curate, deploy, manage and evaluate learning solutions.
- Experience supporting compliance or mandatory learning programmes
- Experience designing, curating, facilitating and evaluating learning solutions.
- Strong knowledge of digital learning, learner experience and modern learning approaches
- Strong planning, prioritisation and project coordination skills.
Desirable
- Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning and Development (Level 5 or above)
- Experience supporting leadership, professional skills or career development programmes.
- Ability to interpret learning data and translate insights into practical recommendations.
- Experience working across regional or global learning projects.
Location: Leeds/Manchester
Travel: Regular travel required to deliver learning
