We are partnering with a global pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation to appoint a Senior Learning & Development Manager - Instructional Design Specialist for its Dublin-based operation.
Reporting directly to the Site Director, this newly created role will play a key part in shaping the site's learning and capability strategy. The successful candidate will lead the design, development and implementation of innovative learning solutions that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance and workforce capability across a complex manufacturing environment.
This is a highly visible position that offers significant cross-functional exposure, working closely with site leadership, technical operations, manufacturing, quality and subject matter experts. The role will suit an experienced learning professional who combines strategic thinking with strong instructional design expertise and enjoys delivering impactful learning solutions that drive organisational performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead training needs analyses to identify capability gaps and develop learning strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Design and develop engaging learning solutions including e-learning, virtual and instructor-led training, simulations, microlearning content, job aids and performance support tools.
- Create structured learning pathways and curricula that support technical, operational and compliance-related training requirements.
- Partner with manufacturing, technical operations, quality and cross-functional stakeholders to develop effective learning interventions.
- Manage learning projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines and objectives.
- Develop assessments, evaluation frameworks and learning metrics to measure effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
- Coordinate learning activities through the Learning Management System, including curriculum management, enrolments, reporting and version control.
- Ensure all training content and documentation remain compliant, audit-ready and aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Drive knowledge management and knowledge transfer initiatives across the site.
- Support operational excellence initiatives through the development of learning solutions that improve performance, reduce errors and enhance capability.
- Provide guidance and coaching to subject matter experts and stakeholders involved in learning delivery.
- Continuously review emerging learning technologies, methodologies and best practices to enhance the site's learning portfolio.
Experience
- 6-8+ years' experience in learning and development, instructional design or training programme management within a pharmaceutical/ API/ Biotech manufacturing environment.
- Degree qualification in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, Life Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience conducting training needs analyses and translating business requirements into effective learning solutions.
- Strong instructional design expertise with experience developing blended learning programmes and curricula.
- Advanced proficiency with e-learning authoring and content development tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline, Adobe Creative Suite and virtual learning platforms.
- Experience managing learning content and reporting within a Learning Management System.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, learning science and assessment methodologies.
- Experience working within regulated environments, with knowledge of GxP training requirements and audit-ready documentation practices.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with learning analytics, reporting and continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Lean, Operational Excellence or Human Performance Improvement principles is desirable.
