Role Summary
The EHS Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the designing, developing, and coordinating the delivery of comprehensive safety training programs across the organization. This role bridges the gap between regulatory compliance and effective workforce engagement, ensuring that all employees possess the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment. You will identify training gaps, leverage presentation tools to create impactful content, and track competency metrics to drive a culture of safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Design: Design and develop engaging EHS training materials, including safety orientation programs, instructor-led presentations, and hands-on workshop guides.
- Needs Assessment: Conduct regular training needs assessments to identify safety knowledge gaps and regulatory training requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, or local compliance standards).
- Program Delivery: Facilitate training sessions for diverse audiences, ranging from frontline warehouse/field staff to management teams.
- Compliance Tracking: Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) to track employee certifications, course completion rates, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Content Modernization: Transition legacy safety training materials into modern, professional, and visually engaging formats using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Performance Metrics: Analyze training effectiveness through pre- and post-testing, feedback surveys, and correlation with incident rate data.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with site safety leads and operational managers to customize training for specific hazards and work environments.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Education, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in an EHS or corporate L&D role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of OSHA standards and general environmental and safety compliance principles.
- Instructional Technology: Proficiency in LMS administration and the development of professional, interactive presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Communication: Exceptional public speaking, presentation, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications: Professional certification such as GSP (Graduate Safety Practitioner), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development) is a plus.
- Data Analysis: Ability to use data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel) to report on training KPIs.
- Field Experience: Previous experience working in high-hazard or industrial settings
