We are looking for a Manager, Training, Development & Recognition to join our growing team of committed professionals. As the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario advances its new strategic plan, this is a unique opportunity to shape how learning, development, and recognition evolve across the organization. This full-time role plays a key role in building a culture where people feel supported, developed, and celebrated.
Reporting to the General Manager, People & Culture, the Manager, Training, Development & Recognition leads the design and delivery of YMCA NEO’s learning, development, and recognition programs. This role is central to building a strong, future-focused learning culture—partnering with People & Culture Business Partners (P&C BPs) and business unit leaders to align training with evolving operational needs, strengthen leadership capacity, and support career growth across the organization. You will also oversee the Citation learning platform, ensure compliance with legislated and role-based training requirements, and lead recognition initiatives that bring our values to life and enhance the employee experience.
As an integral member of the People & Culture management team, this role operates within a centralized model and contributes to organization-wide people strategies.
START DATE: June 1st 2026
LOCATION: Northeastern (Sudbury / North Bay / Timmins)
RATE OF PAY: $60,000 to $65,000 annually
HOURS: 40 hours per week
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and deliver organization-wide learning programs that support YMCA NEO’s strategic priorities
- Build and maintain role-based training pathways aligned with operational needs
- Coordinate & facilitate engaging training experiences across virtual, onsite, and hybrid environments
- Lead the administration and optimization of the Citation and YMCA Canada learning platforms
- Monitor and report on training completion and compliance, ensuring all regulatory and safety requirements are met
- Partner with People & Culture Business Partners and Business Unit leaders to identify skill gaps and implement targeted development solutions
- Develop and execute an annual learning plan that supports workforce capability and growth
- Support succession planning by assessing talent, identifying gaps, and enabling development opportunities
- Design and lead an organization-wide recognition program that reflects YMCA values
- Create communication and celebration strategies that elevate employee recognition and engagement
- Support the rollout of policies, programs, and organizational changes through effective training and communication
- Contribute to People & Culture initiatives and cross-functional projects
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field *for education completed outside of Canada, it is recommended that you submit an educational evaluation (WES, ICAS, etc.) with your application
- CHRP/CHRL designation (preferred)
- Minimum of three (3) years in learning & development, talent development, or human resources
- Experience with learning management systems, with Citation considered an asset
- Experience designing recognition or engagement programs preferred
- Experience in multi-site, people focused organizations preferred
- Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Understanding of adult learning principles and change management
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to build and support relationships across all levels of the organization
- Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
- Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
