Company: Expedia Cruises
Locations: Nanaimo | Parksville | Duncan, BC
Job Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: 100% Commission-Based
About Expedia Cruises
Expedia Cruises is part of the global Expedia family and has been helping clients navigate spectacular vacations for over 30 years. We specialize in cruises, all-inclusive resorts, land tours, air, and customized vacation packages—combining powerful brand recognition with personalized local service.
We are currently expanding and onboarding Independent Vacation Consultants across all three Vancouver Island locations: Nanaimo, Parksville, and Duncan.
About the Opportunity
This is not a salaried position. This is a self-employed, commission-based independent contractor opportunity designed for individuals who want to build something meaningful over time.
You will operate your own travel business while leveraging Expedia Cruises’ brand, booking technology, supplier relationships, and proven training systems. This opportunity is best suited for individuals who are entrepreneurial, disciplined, and motivated by performance-based income, with a long-term focus on building client relationships and repeat business.
Work Model
This opportunity offers flexibility in how you choose to operate, with the ability to work remotely and full access to office locations in Nanaimo, Parksville, and Duncan.
At the same time, we place strong value on in-office engagement, particularly in the early stages. Consultants who spend consistent time in the office environment benefit from hands-on learning, real-time support, collaboration with experienced team members, and greater exposure to client interactions. We have consistently seen that those who are more present in the office tend to build confidence faster, transition into sales more quickly, and generate stronger early momentum.
In addition, in-office engagement often leads to increased access to walk-in opportunities and shared leads, making it a key driver in accelerating growth.

Responsibilities
You will work closely with clients to understand their travel goals, preferences, and budgets, and design travel experiences that align with their needs. This includes researching and booking cruises, vacation packages, tours, flights, and accommodations, while also promoting value-added services such as travel insurance.
Over time, you will build and grow your own client portfolio, stay informed on supplier promotions and travel trends, and provide strong pre- and post-travel support to ensure long-term relationships and repeat business.
What We Provide
You will have access to a personalized Expedia booking website along with Expedia’s full suite of booking platforms and tools. We provide structured onboarding through the International Cruise Academy, along with supplier certification programs and ongoing mentorship.
You will also have access to office locations across Nanaimo, Parksville, and Duncan, along with preferred supplier partnerships and group booking opportunities designed to support your growth.
Onboarding Path
Our onboarding process is designed to be practical and results-focused. You will begin with training completion and system setup, followed by supplier certifications and guided sales readiness coaching.
The initial goal is to achieve your first three confirmed bookings, after which we conduct a post-booking review and continue supporting your development as you build momentum.
Compensation
This is a 100% commission-based opportunity with no base salary or hourly wage. Earnings are directly tied to your performance, consistency, and ability to build client relationships over time.
Additional income opportunities may be generated through travel insurance, group bookings, and repeat clientele. There is no cap on earnings.
Ideal Candidate
This opportunity is best suited for individuals who are entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of their results. Strong communication and consultative sales skills, attention to detail, and comfort with online systems are important.
A passion for travel and delivering strong client experiences is essential. Experience in sales, banking, insurance, hospitality, or travel is an asset, but not required.
Compliance Note
This is an independent contractor opportunity. Licensing may be required for certain products such as travel insurance, and guidance will be provided where applicable.
Final Note
This opportunity rewards consistency, initiative, and engagement. Those who actively participate, remain connected to the office environment, and commit to the process tend to see faster progress and stronger long-term results.
If you are ready to take ownership of your growth and build something of your own within a globally recognized brand, we invite you to apply.
